In one of the other posts. Someone made a quick mention that A&E is going to be releasing Victory at Sea. Does anyone have anymore info on this? Like when this will be coming out. This is my fathers favorite documentary.
Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

I mentioned it, based on the information I linked to in the Variety article.

Other than saying that A&E is bringing it out (which Gord posted at TVShowsOnDVD in a news item), there was no other info...yet.

Victory at Sea on DVD? I am so there when that happens. Anyone want my VHS box set? Posted Image

EDIT: Now if Warner's would just bring out CNN's Cold War series on DVD, I could unload the last big VHS box set in my collection.

I have a PAL R0 "Victory at Sea" set on DVD. If this R1 set is restored & not terribly expensive, I'd really consider buying it.

I would love to have this ageless documentary series on DVD.

A bit off topic: I wish A&E would release its superb documentary The Hindenburg to DVD as well. But ever try getting A&E's attention? Talk about a disconnect.

Bill Hunt is confirming the A&E release of Victory At Sea today over at the Bits. No specs yet and release date TBD, but it isn't posted in the Rumor Mill.

Here is the Variety article reprinted in its entirety at Video Business (a Variety-owned publication and website, and easy to get a free registration for).

Here's the pertinent part:

A&E will distribute seasons one and two of NBC's Homicide on May 27 (prebook April 29) and season one of Profiler in June. A&E also will release the full '50s war documentary series Victory at Sea.
