multiple images on screen (1 Viewer)

i have just bought my first rp tv normal tv picture is good but when i play a dvd if someone turns around or moves quickly on screen i get multiple images it as if the picture cant keep up with its self have tried this on 2 dvd players with both s video & component the store where i bought say i need a prog scan dvd player does any one have any ideas thanks

Are the multiple images feathery or seem to have myriads of very fine and evenly spaced horizontal lines all the way through? These lines are somewhat coarser than the scan lines going through the stationary parts of the picture, if you can see those. Experts also use the non-expert term "seeing scan lines" to describe this.

That would mean a terrible line doubler (de-interlacer) in an HDTV but I find that hard to believe because it would affect regular NTSC TV shows and VCR tape playback also.

If you find out your TV has a bad doubler, your choices are to (1) live with it, (2) get an external de-interlacer to benefit all material, the iScan models are very good, or (3) get a progressive scan DVD player, needs some research to get a good one and it benefits DVD only.

thanks allan but the multiple images are complete copys of the on screen pictures just lots of them if someone turns there head from point a to b there are multiples of this movement like a slowed down cartoon thanks
