I don't understand why there's an issue with the order we choose either. There's only 8 participants and the Comedy genre is huge. There's a wealth of top-notch movies to go around for everyone, regardless of the order. Posted Image

That's what I was thinking. I'm somewhat familiar with the tastes of everyone participating here so I don't think there would be much pick-stealing going on with the exception of a few "grail" films. Whatever.

Well, there's about five different grails I want. I have to go with the one that continues to make me laugh after 20 years and dozens of viewings -- Airplane!

Good analogy with the money, George. Another way to look at it is not to think of it as "rounds" at all. If you go 1-8, 1-8 then the first person gets picks #1, #9, #17, et cetera and the last person gets picks #8, #16, #24, etc. The first guy's average pick number is 37 and the last guy's is 44. If you go 1-8, 8-1 then the everyone's average pick number is 40.5.

Hey WTF?! I called a spot back in post #7, and yet my name doesn't appear on the list anywhere. I can only assume that I'm on Steve's "ignore" list. Posted Image

Gabe, sorry about that! Stupid oversight on my part. I'll add you to the list and figure something out. Tell ya what, if Scott don't show up by tomorrow morning, I'll give you his spot.

Actually, Gabe, I went ahead and put you in Scott's spot - don't know when he'll show up so...

Apologies to Scott. Posted Image

Jeez, I feel guilty now. Are you sure you want to give me Scott's spot? Oh well, you're the boss.

I'll take The Big Lebowski with that missed pick.

Just let 9 people play. It'll only matter during the voting, and I volunteer to take a bye in the first round Posted Image

A bye in the first wouldn't help much. That would give us 5 people left for the 2nd round.

I think we could get more people for this draft. I know of one person who wanted in and missed it. It was started on the weekend and some people don't check the internet much on the weekend.

One problem I see with opening it up is that people who checked the thread and saw it was full might not check again and find out it's open. You might need to do a new thread to get their attention.

...or maybe drop a few PMs on some Polls regulars?

Man, look at all the trouble I've started...

If you wanna stick with 8, don't worry about it! I'll catch the next one.

With my first selection, I'll take what I consider to be the funniest movie of-all time:
