I don't think it is fortuitous. I just posted some internal pictures of the Leisure2 Deluxe in the GP thread. The build quality is excellent. Actually, the ribbon tweeters used in the Leisure2 Deluxe and Music Goddess is priced close to $500/pr here in the States.

how is the potential for repairs or defective units being handled?

The manufacturer has 10 years warrenty, but I think it will be too expensive to send one back. However, all speakers are tested, and the possibility of being damaged during shipment is low, except for external damage which is covered by insurance. It is also possible for me to test them if it is such expected.
