Three cheers for the HTF, I got my money back!!! (1 Viewer)

Some of you may have read about my unfortunate experience with a crook posing as a seller at audiogon. That episode was compounded by the fact that I could have prevented the guy from stealing my money by stopping payment on my cashier's check. When I called, the credit union rep told me I couldn't...only I found out after the check cleared that the CU does stop cashier's checks.

What ensued was several, several conversations with different CU reps, all the way up to meeting with the CEO. I figured my case was hopeless because the CU reps had no recollection of telling me I could not stop payment. It was basically my word against theirs.

Then I remembered a post I had here on HTF where I clearly stated the CU rep told me I could not stop payment. I printed that page out (dated a week before the check cleared). That, and my totally consistent story (consistent because it was true) led CU officials to credit my account for the full amount of the check.

I truly believe the HTF post was instrumental in me getting my money back. So here is a great big THANK YOU!!! to HTF. Also, a big thank you for my CU for crediting my account. And audiogon can kiss my ass for letting a jerk like that have the ability to build up so much false feedback. I am done with audiogon, and I am done with upgrading for a long time.

So when can I expect my cut?

Nice to hear your CU come through in the end. Too bad they didn't let you stop payment when they should have.
