Worried about Damage caused by kid? (1 Viewer)

Hi

Last night my son decided he'd show me a new trick he'd learned(he's very young).

He has a large u-shaped Magnet and showed me very quickly before i freaked how he'd wave it across my Widescreen TV and the Colours in the screen would change much to his excitement.

Of course i screamed "Noooooooo" much to his fright and his trick stopped.

I asked my wife in a panic how longs he been doing this for.And apparently he does this on his OWN TV in his room which i don't care about.But i am worried what damage his trick may have caused my TV.I can't see any'but i am imagining Ghosting and everything.For all i know he could have been sliding this magnet over MY TV for weeks while i've been working.

So can anyone advise if especially in the latter case what damage this may have done?

If he did this only that one time no need to worry. But do not ever let him try that again. (Are we talking about a direct-view set?)

How do you tell? First, ask your son if he has done it before and stress to him the need for a truthful answer. Failing that, if the picture looks fine to you and there are no abberant, permanent chroma splotches visible anywhere on the screen then you're fine.
