Ok folks; Picked up some Bessey 36" sliding arm clamps tonight. My previous clamps were of far east origins. The difference in price, $4 per clamp. A quick examination reveals that the bar itself is much sturdier on the Bessey clamp. The threads on the Bessey are much, much coarser and heavier duty (bottom line, you can tighten it up faster and put more pressure on the clamp). The Bessey clamps came with rubber pads on the clamping surface, the far eastern claimps do not. Bottom line, I thought I was saving money buying cheap clamps. The Bessey sliding arm clamps are far superior to their far eastern brethren. Please do not take this post as a criticism of far eastern products. I own plenty of eastern products of high quality.
