Where's "Moonlighting" episodes on DVD? (1 Viewer)

I know the very first epsiode is out on DVD, but this show has got to be one of the funniest and clever shows ever and it's not on DVD.

I can't believe some of the junk that is out there with every season available and yet Moonlighting is nowhere to be found.

Has anyone heard mention of this series ever coming to DVD?

Just the other day I was playing Water Cooler Roulette with a colleague from work and now I'm going thru Moonlighting withdrawals!

There's been no word on this. Anchor Bay didn't seem to sell the pilot disc too well, since they cleared them out with some much lesser-known titles as a "Suncoast special buy" for as low at $2.99!!

I guess AB needs convincing that they should pursue this again. They should fairly consider that A) the pilot disc was released before the TV-on-DVD craze took off, B) like the pilot disc for My-So-Called Life, this disc wasn't fully carried in stores where everybody could find it, and C) this show is ranked 107th in voting at TVShowsOnDVD.com out of 3339 showed ranked. This puts it significantly higher in the polls than many shows doing great DVD sales already. Also, 95% of those voters want season sets.

If AB no longer has the rights to it, then whoever does ought to get on the stick.

I remember when the pilot was released, it was a bit overpriced. Tht may have hurt sales figures. So, I held off on buying it, until I saw it among the $2.99 Anchor Bay titles a few months ago.

But another thing, Bravo aired reruns a couple years ago. As much as I loved the show in the 80's, it didn't hold up too well.

The pilot episode certainly wasn't one of the best. Now that TV on DVD has taken off, I hope that Anchor Bay will consider releasing the first season.

I believe the series has recently been remastered, so there's a good chance that they may have factored in a DVD release when they made that investment.

The DVD iteration of the "Pilot" was a lot of fun. It included a Glenn Caron/Bruce Willis commentary track in which Willis even admitted that he wasn't fully "into" the David Addison role yet.

I remember purchasing this disc the day it streeted with high anticipation of the promised Anchor Bay Moonlighting sets to follow in the coming months. I mean, who wouldn't want the "Taming of the Shrew" episode (I believe it was called "Atomic Shakespeare"), and the "Black and White" episode with the introduction by Orson Welles? These episodes remain as exemplary examples of the high quality that can be achieved with episodic TV when everyone is on the same page.

It's past time for somebody to get this series out to DVD!!

When the $2.99 gambit failed, Anchor Bay was GIVING the pilot away to anyone who had contacted them about problems with other discs. They must have really overestimated demand for this, at least at the original price point. I'd like to see it in series sets myself, but I suspect AB may be a little gunshy about it.

I'd buy season sets in a heartbeat.

Hell, I'd probably even buy Best-of discs. At this point I'll take anything I can get.
There's one disc available in the UK (released by Universal), but I have a feeling it didn't do too well because they never released a follow-up. Of course, the fact that it had an SRP of £19.99 whereas all other Universal TV discs were around £12.99 might have something to do with it.
Also, the episode "The Lady with the Iron Mask" had a bit of music replaced. The other 2 episodes on the disc were the pilot (sans the Anchor Bay extras) and a Womb with a View (weird choice but since this never aired on German TV for some reason, I was glad). The picture quality was great though, especially compared to other TV fare from around that time.

Hah! This is funny - on Friday, I was in a meeting and we were talking about TV shows that should be on DVD. My boss was going on about Miami Vice and it made me think of Moonlighting and how it could make a great DVD release.

I would gladly buy the first season. As for the episodes after they "did" it, forget it! I never saw a series I enjoyed so much fall off in quality so fast as "Moonlighting" did.

There are also I have to admit, problems that will not make the episodes hold up well. Many episodes are loaded with topical references to the show's difficult production schedule that often caused a slew of repeats to air during the early part of the season. For instance, one episode is hosted by media critic Jeff Jarvis talking about how, "they aired a new episode last week!" The new viewer is not going to know what the heck this is all about.

Call me crazy, but I think MGM Home Entertainment may have landed the "Moonlighting" rights when Disney (owners of ABC, the people behind "Moonlighting") licensed out the ABC titles to them earlier in the year.

My tapes are wasting away. I would definitely go for season sets.

Another vote for Moonlighting Season Sets, soon, PLEASE! My most-wanted tv set (along with Wiseguy, Crime Story- which will happen, I read somewhere..., and Twin Peaks Pilot- a better transfer, and Season Two)

I'd think Moonlighting would sell very well (regardless that the pilot did not). Willis remains a star, the show is well-remembered and much-loved by its fans...

New viewers of it could easily pick up on the 'delayed episode' in-jokes by noting the airdates of them... And the new introductions pasted on the front of several reruns (Dave and Maddie reading Viewer Mail, or apologizing that tonight's show isn't new, even though the TV Guide promised viewers that it would be- these were very funny) should definitely be included on discs- I don't think they were ever rerun on Bravo or elsewhere (nor can I find an episode guide that lists them off, but surely one exists, 'somewhere'...)

Can't argue that the show declined sharply in quality as it went on, but I would like to have the collection be complete... there were a few last season episodes I never saw...
