Which version of the 9500? If its the Pro then yes, matter in fact the 9500 Pro runs just as fast if not faster then the 4600.

There are tools out there that let you take a regular 9500 and transform it into a 9700, so if you are a daring individual you can try that route.

But I personally own a 9500 Pro and it just rocks with everygame I have tossed at it, including the Doom III E3 Alpha.

Depends on whether you're after gaming performance (like all graphics card reviews and the previous posters assume) or whether you're after 2D video performance (scaler, DVD). For a non-gaming HTPC, I would absolutely go with the 9500 non-pro for a series of reasons.

How about between these 3 and yes I will be using it mostly for gaming.

Questions about the Radeons? Do both of them have tv out or just the one. Second if the atlantis is the only one of the two with TV out does it have the same performance specs as the one without the tv out.

And get the 9500 over the 4200; no question really.

I just ordered the 9500 Pro....I can't wait until it gets here!

The 9500pro is a great buy considering it crushes the 4200 and in some cases the 4600.

i've been agonizing over whether I should get a new 3d card... I just have a GeForce 2 GTS now, I wish the 9500 Pros were closer to $100... I need something good for when I get Splinter Cell The demo runs fine on my current card, but since it's only 32 megs, it wont go any higher than 640x480, and I can only use medium shadow resolution and detail.

Anyone know of a site that ships USPS?

Get the radeon 9500 it's a directX9 part while the geforce4 ti is still only a directX8 part. more furture-proofing in the radeon.

It's my understanding that Radeons are having issues with "Freelancer".

The big iffy is with the ATI's and the special patches that have to come out on almost every game i've seen. They don't make those patches for NVidia

Don't base too much on directx9 compatibility because I could use directx9 with my Geforce3 but chose not to because no game supports it just yet. I've seen way too many problems with folks who have directx9.

The GeForce 3 cannot accelarate DX9 features. It only supports directx 8.1 or under. While the GF3 will be able to play future directx9 games, it won't be able to utilize the new directx 9 features like a new Radeon9500/9700 or the upcoming Nvidia FX series of cards could.

Dalton is quite correct on his statement. The easiest way to demostrate this is that my roomate has an older video card which doesn't support directX8 and he can't see any of the water ripple effects on games he plays while my GF3 and my 9700pro both will show the effects. just because he can't make full use of the DX8 effects doesn't mean the game won't let him play it just plays with fewer effects. That's how it will be with the GF4 when DX9 games come out.
