[pedant]Surely they should know that the correct word is TETRALOGY...[/pedant]

(I wonder whether lil' ol' me can make Fox take notice ;) )

(I've only bought parts 1 & 2 so I will probably upgrade to the box set)

If there is a director's cut of Alien 3, I'll certainly get the boxset. If not, parts one and two will do me just dandy.

Nice! Looking forward to this one. I'm really curious to see what excellent new extra material they are going to put on this set. :) I also really hope they have worked out something with David Fincher regarding Alien 3...

I think the rumor is a pseudo-director's cut. There will be more of a "fan" cut-- the alternate version that fans wanted to see- but Fincher has decided he would rather not be directly involved (looks like he still holds a pretty serious grudge).

So Finch has signed off to let Fox do what they will, and so I'd expect some sort of long alternate cut-- just not directly composed by Fincher.

I hope they still include the original Theatrical cut, despite the fact that it's shitty.

The Alien films ended at Aliens for me.

For the sheer brilliance that the first two are, Alien 3 is a travesty that I completely disregard. It's one of the few moview that gets me angry when I think about it.

Nice pic !! Finally some conformation!!
9 Disc? so one of them is a three disc set??
Or the extra mail disc from the first set maybe??
I don't know though, Alien looks fine to me.
Aliens could use a remaster since the colors look really dated...
Alien 3 in the original Finchers cut would be the main selling point to get me to buy the box again though.
DTS on all
and Audio commentaries on all, apart from that I don't know what could make me buy them again...
I like my box set, and looks good on my shelf.
But the packing is cool though.

Looks like each film will get the 2 disc treatment and a bonus 9th disc?

Looks like I'll be getting the 9 disc set, just to have parts 1, 2, 3 and disc 9. Geez, Alien 4 sucks hard...

I'm assuming that each is a 2 disc, (8) and then a disc for extras also (1)

I'm really pissed about this. I just bought the boxset like 7 months ago thinking this'd never happen... grrr.

Call me crazy, but I would love the 9th disc to be about the Aliens away from the film series...

Interviews with Chris Claremont and other writers of the Dark Horse Aliens comics. A gallery of comicbook covers.

Details of the Aliens merchandise... the toys, models, t-shirts, previous VHS and LD releases, books... the list is almost endless.

And wasn't there even a cartoon (or the talk of a cartoon) at one point? That would be good to feature too.

Discuss the Alien Vs Predator film and how it always got pushed back...

This series of films has so much life outside the cinema.

Yet another double-dip release. Why don't they try working with an interesting concept called GETTING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME? Well, as long as the public keeps buying X-Men 3.7 and The Alien Legacy:Ripley vs. Jason Part Deux, I guess the studios will continue to crank 'em out. :rolleyes

I would guess that Aliens would be a three-disc set to make the count to nine. Seamless branching would be very difficult to do to get both versions on the same disc, considering how JC edited together his DC.

[rant]And I'm sick of people complaining about 3 & 4! Personally, I love all the films in the series. The Alien films are all director showcases, and vary significantly in style and pace. Aliens is certainly the most accessible, and appreciation of Alien^3 therefore suffers from those that thought it should have been Aliens 2. As for Alien Resurrection, it's a very fashionable film to dislike. The vocal Whedonites on this forum hate it since JW hated what was done to his script. I, OTOH, loved the stylish imagery, and the great performances from a fine cast (the scene where Brad Dourif eyeballs an alien is pure genius, as was the eclectic mixing of Pinon/Perlman).[rant]

Tetralogy is correct, sir! Thank you for saying it! This series is definately "A series of four related dramatic...works."

I have to wonder if Fox will correct it, though. If they do, then the stylish "Q" image on the box will make no sense. OTOH, it makes worse sense to try to invent new words. Ah, well...that's the marketing game, eh?

I am another one who appreciates #'s 3 and 4 in this series. I might be tempted to double-dip, if I can afford it and the features are good enough to warrant an upgrade. However, my credit card balances are high, and I already have the "Legacy" box set, including the "Legacy" bonus disc (thanks to an HTF member!). It will take a lot to get me to upgrade. But I am willing to be convinced! :)
