I have seen more of your list than what follows, but own these films. (albeit not necessarily the critereon versions) You will probably notice that what follows is all pretty positive. This is because I generally don't buy films I hate. :D
Brazil
This is one of Terry Gilliams mind bender flicks that also happens to be a dark comedy set in a somewhat orwellian future. Everytime I watch this film I try to figure out at what point the protagonist goes insane and come up with a new answer every time. You will probably never make complete sense of this film no matter how many times you watch it. It's definately fun trying though.
The Hidden Fortress
Not everyone likes Kurosawa flicks. I love 'em personally, and so did George Lucas apparantly. Parts of this flick were copied right down to the fades and wipes into the origional Star Wars. While the premise and some of the characters are also ripped off directly, the plot is quite different. The critereon version includes an introduction by George Lucas where he talks about how big of a Kurosawa fan he was and how much he loved this film prior to making Star Wars. He draws several comparisons between Kurosawa's film and his own, and then writes them off as a complete coincidence. :D
In the Mood for Love
This film is a basically a romance, but an odd one. I can't say much without spoiling it. It's a bit slow, but has incrediable style. I own a Canadian release that only had a stereo soundtrack, but it was absolutely pristine stereo and was a real treat to listen to. Probably the best sounding stereo flick I own. I think the Critereon version might be in 5.1. I'd be curious to know how those who have heard both versions feel the audio compares.
Life of Brian
Classic Monty Python. If you haven't seen this, at least rent it. Definately one of the better Monty Python flicks.
RoboCop
If you want some pretty hardcore sci-fi action Robocop will give it to you. It's pretty gritty and has an interesting style. A good flick, but not for the kiddies.
The Royal Tenenbaums
This is a pretty decent comedy/drama. I doubt it will pop up as even a blip on most film critics radars in 10 years or so though. Still, worth watching.
Sanjuro
This is far from my favorite Kurosawa flick but it is still an excellent film. The protagonist is the same as in Yojimbo, but this film is much more light hearted. The duel at the very end is truly jaw dropping, albeit not for the reasons you might expect. (You have been warned)
Seven Samurai
Compulsory viewing. Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune did some amazing work here. Like Yojimbo, this film was also remade as a western. "The Magnificent Seven" was but a pale shadow of the origional however. If you have never seen a Kurosawa flick, this is the one to start with.
Silence of the Lambs
This is the film that made Hannibal Lecter a household name synonymous with terror. Best viewed with some liver, fava beans, and a nice chianti. :D
Spartacus
This is one of the classic hollywood epics in the vein of Ben Hur and Gone with the Wind. It's a bit slow by modern standards, the special effects look dated, and the fight scenes aren't the impeccably choreographed MTV-style handheld/quick-cut fights you see today. Still, it's one of the great classics and well worth seeing.
Yojimbo
This is one of Kurosawa's best, and one of the great classics that ranks right up there with Casablanca. (in my book at least) It was remade as the classic Clint Eastwood film "Fistfull of Dollars" that gave birth to many other "Spaghetti Westersns" including "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".
--------
Now for a question of my own. Has anyone here seen the criterion versions of the Samurai Trilogy? I've only seen crappy 16mm transfers that were almost painful to watch. If the criterion transfers are up to the same standard as the other Kurosawa films released so far I may have to order them...

what makes this different is that, with one exception, everything is shot by Apollo astronauts during their missions. never mind cinema verite, this is real life, skilfully edited together to make a compelling documentary about the quest for the Moon.

a very good companion to From The Earth To The Moon, which of course is dramatized.

I'll comment on the ones I've seen, on a 10-scale:
----------------------------
The 39 Steps -- 7.5. Not my favorite British Hitchcock (see below), but a wonderful little thriller, with your quintessential "innocent guy on the run" motif Hitch was so fond of.
8 1/2 -- 9. I admire it much more than I enjoy it, which kept it from a 10.
Alexander Nevsky -- 8. All rousing speeches, heroic posturing, and thinly veiled Stalinist propaganda, but damn if it doesn't have some of the best battle scenes ever committed to film
Armageddon -- 7. Screw you all. This film is fun, it ain't a "guilty pleasure", and if you don't like it I'll break you with my bare hands!! :angry: :angry: :angry:
Beastie Boys Video Anthology -- 10 if you are a Beasties fan, 7 if you just like innovative videos, 0 if you couldn't care less.
Beauty and the Beast -- 10. Personal favorite of mine, just about the finest screen fantasy ever produced.
Black Narcissus -- 8. A technicolor marvel, but not as good as other P&P classics,
Blood of a Poet -- 8. A sculpture mated with a poem and disguised the child as a film. Pure lyricism.
Brazil -- 10. Greatest... movie... EVER!
Brief Encounter -- 7.5. David Lean handles lurid melodrama with entertaining if heartbreaking results, hampered by a wimped-out epilogue.
Carl Th. Dreyer - My Métier -- 6. Informative but somewhat lifeless documentary on one of cinema's greatest talents.
Carnival of Souls -- 5. Way overrated but not without some redeeming features.
Charade -- 9.5. Hollywood magic at its finest. Grant and Hepburn have chunks of talent in their poop that thoroughly dwarf Wahlberg and Newton into oblivion.
Chasing Amy -- 8. Smith's best work.
Children of Paradise -- 8.5. Lovely, amazing film, but not without its frustrations. Still, a classic.
Day of Wrath -- 8. One of Dreyer's finest constructions.
Do the Right Thing -- 9. Spike Lee's masterpiece.
Double Suicide -- 7. Beautiful, poetic, but somewhat mundane at times. Loosely similar subject matter handled better in Brief Encounter and In The Mood For Love.
Dreyer Box Set -- see individual entries. Overall average is a 7.
Eisenstein: The Sound Years -- see invidiaul entries. Overall average is an 8.5.
The Element of Crime -- 8. von Trier's debut feature is haunting and remarkable.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas -- 7.5. Gilliam did the unthinkable and filmed the unfilmable. Not without its flaws, but a good film nonetheless.
General Idi Amin Dada -- 5. Has its moments, but zzzzzzzzz...
Gertrud -- 5. Some great shots, but wake me up when it's over....
Good Morning -- 8. Who said Ozu didn't like a good fart joke?
Grand Illusion -- 10. Um... yeah, it's brilliant.
Hamlet -- 8. Citizen Dane, but a great adaptation.
Hard Boiled -- 8.5. My first Woo (in the theaters!) and a superior action flick
Henry V -- 8.5. A storybook come to life.
The Hidden Fortress -- 7.5. Not Kurosawa's finest, but a great adventure story.
High and Low -- 8. Falls apart in the third act, but redeems itself with a superior epilogue.
In the Mood for Love -- 10. One of the most beautiful and moving films ever committed to celluloid.
Ivan the Terrible - Parts I & II -- 9. Eisenstein's epic is grand and splendid and perhaps one of the scariest non-horror films ever made.
The Killer -- 9. Woo's masterpiece.
Kwaidan -- 8.5. Overlong, but one of the greatest horror films ever made.
The Lady Vanishes -- 9.5. Classic Hitch, the last of his early British phase and his best.
The Last Temptation of Christ -- 9. Scorsese is firing on almost all cylinders here.
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp -- 8.75. Just a great, great movie.
M. Hulot's Holiday -- 7.5. A sweet little comic caper.
Mona Lisa -- 7.5. Between this and the Long Good Friday, Hoskins just rules the screen.
More descriptions to come, so I'll just rate them for now.
Notorious -- 8
Ordet -- 9
Orpheus -- 8.75
Orphic Trilogy -- 7.6 (average of 3)
The Passion of Joan of Arc -- 10
Peeping Tom -- 6.5
Rashomon -- 10
Rebecca -- 8.75
Red Beard -- 8.5
The Red Shoes -- 9.25
RoboCop -- 8.25
The Rock -- 7.5
The Royal Tenenbaums -- 7
Rushmore -- 8
Sanjuro -- 7.5
Seven Samurai -- 10
The Seventh Seal -- 10
Silence of the Lambs -- 8
Solaris -- 7.75
Spartacus -- 8
Testament of Orpheus -- 6.25 (*) On an objective scale, this film doesn't work on its own. As a reflection of Orpheus and as a spiritual cousin Blood of a Poet, the film is a solid 8. This makes more sense if you've seen the films in question.
The Third Man -- 9.5 (Greatest final scene in movie history EVER!)
This is Spinal Tap -- 11
Time Bandits -- 8
Traffic -- 8
Yojimbo -- 7.45

I would really like to check out a lot more of these films, it can be hard to locate most of these titles at the local video library. The currency conversion is quite high for Criterion titles as well, so I really have a limit on what I can actually own. Which is only about 7 or 8.
Like Jason, I love to keep film lists :). I'll be updating whenever possible as well.

What about the LDs? Ghostbusters, Trainspotting, Evita, The Princess Bride, King Kong... etc. All are Criterion titles too, right?
There's a list Here

I am currently on a mission to collect all Criterion DVDs, so I will try to update the list as well.
My rating scale is out of 4 :star:s. If it's followed by a (*), that means I currently own it.
The 39 Steps :star::star::star:
A nice film, but not Hitchcock's best. However, I didn't see it in a while and may re-evaluate it after I buy it.
The 400 Blows
8 1/2 :star::star:
I'm not really "getting" Fellini's work yet, though I'm trying to, especially after watching Amarcord today.
À Nous la Liberté
Alexander Nevsky :star::star::star: *
Beautifully filmed, and the simple nature of the heroic vs evil characters are fun, but it loses a star for its propaganda nature.
All That Heaven Allows
Alphaville
Amarcord :star::star:1/2 *
Again, still not "groking" Fellini, but this film had some genuinely enjoyable and brilliant moments.
And God Created Woman
And the Ship Sails On
Andrei Rublev
Armageddon :star:
Autumn Sonata
L' Avventura
Ballad of a Soldier
Band of Outsiders
The Bank Dick
Beastie Boys Video Anthology
Beauty and the Beast
Big Deal on Madonna Street
Billy Liar
Black Narcissus
Black Orpheus
The Blob
Blood for Dracula
Blood of a Poet
Bob le Flambeur
Branded to Kill
Brazil :star::star::star: *
Probably the most "fun" Criterion movie I own. The over-the-top characters alone make this one great to watch repeatedly.
Brief Encounter
by Brakhage—An Anthology
Carl Th. Dreyer - My Métier :star::star: *
I'm not big on documentaries usually.
Carnival of Souls
Charade
Chasing Amy :star::star:
I'm lukewarm on Kevin Smith, and like his entire film output, I like some of Chasing Amy but not the rest. A little too preachy and took itself more seriously, but failed to connect emotionally for me.
Children of Paradise
Cleo from 5 to 7
Closely Watched Trains
The Complete Monterey Pop Festival Box Set
Contempt
Coup de torchon
The Cranes Are Flying
Cries and Whispers
Les Dames du Bois de Boulogne
Day of Wrath :star::star::star:1/2 *
My first Dreyer film, and I fell in love with his work right there. Patient, touching, effective. I definitely plan on re-watching it. I left off a half-star because I'm saving it for another Dreyer film...
Dead Ringers
Diabolique
Diary of a Chambermaid
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
Do the Right Thing :star::star::star::star: *
I feel that Spike Lee is the most important director of the past 15 years, so of course I hold this film in high regard. It is tied with Malcolm X as Spike's best work in my book. A Criterion of that movie would be a dream come true.
Double Suicide
Down by Law
Dreyer Box Set (see individual films) *
Eisenstein: The Sound Years (see individual films) *
The Element of Crime
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Fiend without a Face
The Firemen's Ball
Fishing with John
Flesh for Frankenstein
For All Mankind
General Idi Amin Dada
George Washington
Gertrud :star::star:1/2
After seeing Day of Wrath and Ordet from that box set, this was a little dissappointing. The mixture / conflict of religous faith and romantic love is what drew me into Dreyer's films, and the former is not present here.
Gimme Shelter
Good Morning
Grand Illusion :star::star::star::star: *
Fantastic characters, great acting, social relevance, comedy, drama- what else can you want from a movie?
Great Expectations
Grey Gardens
Hamlet :star::star::star:
Olivier doing Shakespeare- how can you not love it? However, I personally prefer Branaugh's Hamelt, so it doesn't get the highest rating.
Hard Boiled :star::star:1/2
Fantastic action, but everything else bores me.
The Harder They Come
Häxan
Hearts and Minds
Henry V
The Hidden Fortress :star::star::star: *
Kurasawa is what got me started collecting Criterions in the first place. Great stuff.
High and Low :star::star:1/2 *
On the other hand, I don't really dig this one too much. Maybe I'm too stuck on the historical aspect of these movies, but the "magic" is gone in this contemporary setting.
Hopscotch
The Horse's Mouth
How to Get Ahead in Advertising
I Am Curious...Box Set
I Am Curious—Blue
I Am Curious—Yellow
I Know Where I'm Going!
The Importance of Being Earnest
In the Mood for Love
Insomnia
Ivan the Terrible - Parts I & II :star::star::star:1/2 *
Visual moving art at its best. One could spend hours picking these scenes apart. Part II especially is quite haunting.
Jimi Plays Monterey & Shake! Otis at Monterey
Juliet of the Spirits
The Killer
The Killers
Kwaidan
The Lady Eve
The Lady Vanishes :star::star::star:1/2 *
One of the best combinations of Hitchcock's directing and quirky cast. My favorite of his British films.
The Last Temptation of Christ :star::star::star:
I don't remember much about this movie and am dying to see it again, but I do remember it being quit powerful. Besides, it's just great to see Criterion do a Scorsese flick.
The Last Wave
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Life of Brian :star::star::star:1/2 *
Huge Python fan here.
The Long Good Friday
Lord of the Flies
Lost Honor of Katharina Blum
Loves of a Blonde
M
M. Hulot's Holiday
The Magic Flute
Man Bites Dog
Le Million
Mon Oncle
Mona Lisa
Monterey Pop
The Most Dangerous Game
My Life as a Dog
My Man Godfrey
The Naked Kiss
Nanook of the North
The Night Porter
A Night to Remember :star::star::star: *
I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would. I expected it to be a dry dissemintation of a historical event, but it was an entertaining film on its own.
Nights of Cabiria
Notorious :star::star::star::star: *
Ingrid Bergman + Cary Grant + Hitchcock = movie gold.
Oliver Twist
Ordet :star::star::star::star: *
Wow. This film is the reason why I collect Criterions- exotic films I never heard of that are just so amazing.
Orpheus :star::star:1/2 *
I don't dig this French artsy stuff, but it's the most watchable of the three that come in that box set.
Orphic Trilogy (see individual films)
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Peeping Tom
Pépé le Moko
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Playtime
Pygmalion
Rashomon :star::star::star::star: *
My 2nd favorite Kurusawa- bold, unique, great performances.
Ratcatcher
Rebecca :star::star::star: *
I could never get enough of Bergman and Hitchock and I like this movie, but it gets just a bit ponderous at times.
Red Beard :star::star::star::star: *
Though the samurai thing is what got me into Kurusawa at first, this film is just as powerful but in a more understated way. I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
The Red Shoes
Rififi
RoboCop :star::star:1/2
Ah, fond memories from my teenage days.
The Rock :star::star::star:
A fun action flick; the most watchable from Bay.
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Ruling Class
Rushmore
Salesman
Salò
Samurai I - Musashi Miyamoto
Samurai II - Duel at Ichijoji Temple
Samurai III - Duel at Ganryu Island
Sanjuro :star::star::star:1/2 *
A bad-ass warrior being all... bad-ass. Sweet.
The Scarlet Empress
Seven Samurai :star::star::star::star: *
Only four stars? This ranks in my top 5, easily.
The Seventh Seal :star::star::star:*
A bit too "artsy" for my tastes, but still enjoyable.
Shock Corridor
The Shop on Main Street
Sid & Nancy
Silence of the Lambs :star::star::star:
The criminal thriller thing isn't my favorite genre, but this is just so well-made. And it has Jodie Foster.
Sisters
Solaris :star::star::star:1/2
Great concept, better execution.
Spartacus :star::star::star:*
Classic Holllywood epic, which I'm a sucker for.
Spellbound :star::star::star:1/2
Have I mentioned how much I like Hitchcock and Bergman?
Straw Dogs
Sullivan's Travels
Summertime
Taste of Cherry
Testament of Orpheus :star::star:*
More artsy stuff that I don't get. What is the point of purposefully contradicting half of the ideas presented in Orpheus? Maybe I need someone to explain these movies to me. Anyway, I can't give a high rating to something that seems like an appendix to another movie.
That Obscure Object of Desire
The Third Man :star::star::star::star:
Top-notch noir, with the best closing scene of any movie ever.
This is Spinal Tap :star::star::star::star:
This movie goes up to 11. My favorite one about music.
Time Bandits
Tokyo Drifter
Tokyo Olympiad
Traffic :star::star::star:
A neat idea and some great moments, but got a little lost here and there. The color scheme wore me down as well.
Le Trou
Trouble in Paradise
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Under the Roofs of Paris
Vagabond
The Vanishing
Variety Lights
W.C. Fields - Six Short Films
Wages of Fear
Walkabout :star::star:1/2*
This one just didn't much for me personally.
Wild Strawberries
Withnail and I
Written on the Wind
Yojimbo :star::star::star:1/2*
As fan of Kurasawa and A Fist Full of Dollars, this one was a joy to watch... and re-watch... and re-re-watch.
