Inspired by the loss of The Accidental Tourist (one of the best films of the eighties) to what is in my opinion, the merely average Coen effort O Brother, Where Art Thou? in my tourney with Vickie, I became curious as to how the Coen oeuvre would stack up against a select group of HTF favorites.
So we now have Joel & Ethan Coen vs. the HTF!

But I am a "hardcore Coen's aficionado" so you aren't likely to agree with most of my votes in this one. I'd vote 6 Coen movies over Manhattan and 5 or 6 over The Third Man. I wouldn't vote any over Sullivan's Travels, I'm an even more hardcore Preston Sturges aficionado.

This implies that only the nine with noms can vote.

Regardless of any ability to vote, I agree with Brook and Agee as to Sturges vis-à-vis the Coens.

I’m in the like the brother’s films very much, but I’m not a hard-core fan (perhaps excepting Fargo). I do also love ‘O Brother’, but the nod to Sturges in this one does not mean that it’s in the same class.

A Clockwork Orange—some think that this is one of Kubrick’s best, while others think it one of his weaker efforts. Either way, it’s no contest.
