Is JVC the only company currently that makes a D-VHS recorder?

The JVC is currently the only one to have D-Theater though. You cannot watch the pre-recorded movies with out a D-Theater deck.

The Panny is out of prod and very difficult to find.
You can easily find the 2 Mitsubishi units.
JVC has the 3000 with D-Theater, which will soon be joined by two more JVC units-- the 4000 model (supposed to support DTS) and a Professional model.
A Marantz version of either the 3000 or 4000 is expected this summer. It is a D-Theater machine as well.

Also, there are several STD D-VHS recorders-- Hitachi, Hughes, and a DISH Network box with a built-in JVC d-vhs unit. These models will only record 480i-- no HD.

Best regards,
~~Nathan
