WTB: Onkyo TX-NR717 or equivalent (1 Viewer)

Just like the title says, if anyone is selling a a tx-nr717 or an AVR with at least 125w 20 Hz to 20kHz per channel, 3d capable and wifi capable please let me know. Budget of no more than $400.00.

? the onkyo 717, 818, 809 and thats just off of the top of my head, and that is just 1 company. I may look into the 110/ch receivers as well seeing that i am running rf-82's, rb-61's, rs-42's and an rc-52 center. 125/ch may be a little overkill.

Lord thats a sexy receiver, I am still learning alot about home audio and hadnt even thought about companies outside of onkyo, denon and marantz.

Am I looking correctly at the power ouput for these Onkyo receivers? rated at 125/ch 20Hz to 20 kHz 8 ohms, is that a constant 125? or is this peak power output?

That is two channels driven. Not 5 or 7.
To get an accurate idea, find what it "chews off the wall"...subtract about 50-70...divide that by 5 or 7. Most AVR end up around 35/60wpc...all channels driven.

Would I then be better served running a dedicated receiver alongside some sort of auxillary amplification to run the remainder of my theatre? I have noticed that it seems many people run a similar setup with a dedicated central receiver and then a secondary power source to run another section of speakers. I was thinking like the onkyo tx-nr717 and later down the road something like this? http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/upa700 ...which had been recommended already by either you or someone else on the forums here

How much power you need is a function of speaker efficiency and room acoustics.
Meaning, if you buy low efficiency speakers(87db and lower) and have a "dead room"...
You need tons of power.
Also, if you buy high efficiency(93db or higher) and have a "live room"...
You can make due on 5 watts per channel.
Buy your speakers...then you buy enough power for the volume you want.

That makes sense, everything I'm running is 93db and up so I will likely go with the 717 and see where I stand with room correction. now that I think of it, we have vaulted ceilings and a pretty open living room, this probably doesn't help since the room cannot be "filled" with sound.

sweet the 717 has all ill need then, I may try seeing if I can get my rb-61's off the stand and a little higher or better positioned in my room.

717 on order, I cannot wait to experience the difference. Ive only owned an old crappy JVC first, then the onkyo ht-r550 and now this tx-nr717, Im hoping it is a huge difference to what im used to.
