Yep. They'd hired a writer as I recall. I'll look for that story and post a link when I find it..

And this was from March, and the pushing out of the production. In this report it appears linked to director Bayona wanting/needing more time for another project, but it is more likely to give more time to properly crack the story (as the May news re: a new writer would appear to suggest).
