Hi,

Will the older class AB amps work well to support the dynamic of Master Audio and Dolby True HD ?

I would like to know if a class AB multi channel power amp (example Sherbourn, Anthem or Parasound) will work well with a pre-processor that supports Master Audio and Dolby True HD (example Rotel RSP 1580 or RSP 1582)

Most of the power amps these days are Class D for reasons of efficiency.
Is the class D got anything to do with audio dynamic that comes the above audio formats.

The primary question is of ability to truly reproduce Master Audio and Dolby True HD with class AB
The secondary question of the matching between the above pre and power amps.

Thanks

Dynamic range has nothing to do with amplifier design.

It has to do with...

1. Size of your room
2. Speaker placement and efficiency.
3. Enough power to attain desired volume level based on the other two.

Just to add something. There is nothing "old" about A/B amps. Most external amps are A/B. Not as many are D. A/B amps tend to be superior in every way except efficiency. I don't want to start an argument with anyone else, since there are plenty of people who swear there's no audible difference. I disagree. I just wanted to make a point that A/B is still the common design for external amps.

Thanks for the additional comments. I do agree with you on the warmth and depth of sound from AB amps.
