"Haris,
I had Klipsch reference(3 RC7's actually) running off of a HK AVR 8000 and it is a wonderful match. It smoked the Denon 3802 easily(not really a fair comparison i know). The Denon was a good unit but i thought the HK was warmer sounding and much better for music than the Denon. Both performed well for HT (although the HK got the nod again because the 8000 is in a different class than the 3802). I have also run a Marantz SR7000 and SR7200 with the reference series and Marantz matches up very well with Klipsch also (probably just as well as the HK). I have also run the Rotel 1066/1075 preamp/amp combo with these speakers with good results. I have also had the Onkyo 797 and Yamaha 1300 and while both were good for HT, they were a little too bright on the music end. As you can see i have tried several combinations with these speakers and found Marantz and HK to be the best match(IMO) and Rotel a close second.

Take Care,
Dalton"

Dalton, I have both an HK 8000 and a Denon 3802, and you are 100% correct, although, as you already pointed out, it's not really a fair comparision. At least the 4802, if not the 5803, would be a fairer comparision.
Although the 3802 isn't half bad though.

I agree Mark. I would like to compare the 4802 or 5803 to the HK 8000. I read a review on the 8000 in Sound&Vision or HT Mag(can't remember which one) and they put some flagships through the amp torture test and the HK lasted the longest before shutdown. I believe the 5803 was one of the receivers it was up against. The 8000 does have one HUGE toroidal transformer for a receiver. For a receiver rated at only 110Watts per channel, it is certainly no slouch in the power dept. I believe it came in at 116watts per channel with all channels driven(8 ohms).

Since the Marantz 7200 is highly rated by the knowledgeable HK fans, its worth noting the 7200 produced 27watts x 6 ch driven to clipping S&V.

Uhhhh, OK. That's all well and good and very well may be true, but I think we are talking about the HK 7200, not the Marantz 7200, and the HK 7200 was well over spec. I can't remember the exact figure, but it was well over 100 watts X 7.
