My favorite film musical of all time is "The Music Man" (Oops--it is actually titled: Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man") I swear to god@ heavenabove.com that I can watch that film on a weekly basis and never grow tired of it.

    ("I always think there's a band, kid"--Preston--The Music Man)

    The Wizard of Oz.

I can never get tired of this one.

    I also love...

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

    O Brother Where Art Thou

    Moulin Rouge

It's a real shame musicals are so rare...they used to be a staple in the golden age.

I have to go with Brook on this one. As an example of its type, it's hard to top Singin' in the Rain.

I grew up with the movie and the music (my mom had the album). Every time I watch it it brings back a flood of memories, no other musical affects me the same way. It's also a great film and I don't mind that my favorite film of all time, 2001 lost out to it for the Oscar.

If that doesn't technically qualify as a typical musical, I really like Dancer In The Dark! Not your typical musical, but very good and appropriate use of the music. I hate musicals where the actors start singing out of the blue, almost for no apparent reason. This does not happen in Dancer in the Dark.
