Um, wasn't Foreign Correspondent one of the titles mentioned for 04? Cos, if it wasn't, it ought to be!

That would be a very pleasant surprise to say the least, but I'm not getting my hopes up. King George doesn't want the OT to be released ever again and I seriously doubt he'll change his mind even though the fans are desperate to have the theatrical versions on DVD.
I think GL will release the OT, there's just too much money to be made not to. I think he's telling us he never will so we'll buy the SEs first, then he'll release the OTs and double his money.

My wish list for next year-

The Shawshank Redemption SE
Clerks SE
Raising Arizona SE
Goodfellas SE
Raging Bull SE

About Lucas- I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we
have to double dip to get what we want. He'll
probably still say he won't release the originals
and then after we buy the versions we don't want,
he'll release the versions we do want and double
his money. Not very honest or consumer friendly.

Good thread. Sorry I came in here late.

Those that I know are coming out year that
I am anticipating the most....

Lost In Space (Fox)
The Sunshine Boys (Warner/MGM)
A Day At The Races (Warner/MGM)
A Night At The Opera (Warner/MGM)
King Kong (Warner)
Jerry Lewis films (Paramount)

On my wish list....

Marx Brothers reissues (Universal)
The Prisoner of Second Avenue (Warner)
The Big Mouth (Columbia)
Angels with Dirty Faces (Warner)
Public Enemy (Warner)
White Heat (Warner)

As for the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD...

It has been suggested to me that the sales
of Indiana Jones will greatly contribute
to decisions regarding an early release of the
trilogy. Take this as nothing more than a rumor
at this point.

Hey, David, I heard somewhere (don't remember where, all these web sites bleed together after a while) that HBO would be putting out Season One of "The Wire" next year. If true, I'm definitely on board for that!

I'm hoping for some deep catalog genre favorites. Judging from the mostly standard studio fare I've seen listed so far, it's not very likely I'll be scratching very many titles from my wacky wishlist in 2004 :)
[*]Naked Prey (Paramount)[*]Captain Nemo and the Underwater City (Warner)[*]Jerry Lewis catalog (Paramount)[*]Land That Time Forgot (MGM?)[*]Master Of The World (MGM)[*]Conqueror Worm (MGM)[*]Brides Of Dracula (Universal)[*]Atlantis, The Lost Continent (?)[*]Demon Seed (Warner)[*]One Million Years B.C. (Fox)[*]Warlords Of Atlantis (Columbia)[*]Darby O'Gill (Disney)[*]Alice B Tolkas (MGM)[*]200 Motels (MGM)[/list]
Not worried about the high-profile films and the SE reissues... we know most of them will come out in time.

Great musicals coming this year:
Half a sixpence, Call Me Madam, four Judy Garland films, 8 deanna durbins in one set, cinderella with Julie Andrews, Star with Julie Andrews. This is all a good start.
Hopefully we may get the 62 State Fair, Flower Drum Song, Damn Yankees, Betty Grable and Alice Faye musicals,
Becket is due and supposedly Fall of the Roman Empire and El Cid.
Hopefully Fox will get around to The Egyptian, the Virgin Queen,Prince of Foxes and Captain from castille.
Warners is doing a ton of Flynn and a lot of Bette Davis, so I am told. Wish they would do their 50s spectacles: Helen of Troy, Land of the Pharoahs, The Silver Chalice, King Richard and the Crusaders.
They are definitely doing Quo Vadis and an ultra special Gone With the Wind.

I think Duel will finally appear, but then I'm not holding my breath. Supposedly, Fox also got the rights straightened out for The Enemy Below, so we might see this one, too.

I can't wait for this one: Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Star Wars: The Clone Wars series (all 20 episodes on one disc)

What's this? Please elaborate!
This is the animated "epic micro-series" running on Cartoon Network that tells the story of the Clone Wars.

Don't know if theres any 70s car chase movie fans besides me, but in addition to DUEL, I would love to see VANISHING POINT and DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY. Also a reissue of the UNIVERSAL MONSTERS is a must! Any of Sergio Leone's films in a SE would be great!

given that there is still a sizable demographic of young/middle aged males fueling dvd sales- the absence of these classics is a real head scratcher to me.
How 'bout it Fox?
these cult classics may not burn the door down on street date like a new release, but i would bet they would be steady sellers month in and month out as more people get turned on to them.
