Judging by the varying ages of people on this forum i'm guessing some of you lucky people have seen some great gigs in your time. Please share your experiances.
Heres who i've seen-

My first gig - 1997 - The Prodigy/Foo Fighters

2000 - Sting (amazing live, cool as a cucumber)

2003- Whitesnake / Gary Moore (:emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup: )
2003- Deep Purple / Lynard Skynard (Rick Wakemens 10 minute keyboard solo was pure prog rock :emoji_thumbsup: )
2003 - Tony Bennet (coolest night of my life, part of glasgow summer Jazz festival, after the gig took in some jamming at a jazz cafe till 4am in the morning, drunk plenty of Jack D that night! :D :emoji_thumbsup: )

You're asking for a very, VERY long list!;) I saw the Monkees in 1968, but the first real rock concert I saw was The Grease Band & Small Faces & Savoy Brown in 1970.

I couldn't possibly list, much less remember(it was the 70's) all the shows I have seen in the last 35 years but Let's see
Jethro Tull(71) warm up band Roxy Music(changed my whole picture of music, I thought they blew Tull away and I had waited overnight at MSG for 7th row tickets to see JT)
Rolling Stones 3 times 73,75,01
Springsteen 75(Bottom Line) and 84
The Who-'71,73,75 and never after Keith died.
Elvis Costello- both shows at his debut in the Bottom Line and I lost count how many times since then. My favorite.
Talking Heads CBGB's and Forest Hills(Stop Making Sense)
CBGB's- Blondie(Also when they were the Stilettos)Ramones,Police,Patti Smith,The Cure,Smithereens,Madness, English Beat,Specials. I could go on and on about that place
Pink Floyd-thrice- Animals, Wish You Were Here(MSG) and one of the few shows of the Wall in Nassau Colliseum in 1980.
Bowie-twice
Duran Duran in this joint called the Ritz here in NYC in 1979 with an unknown warm up band called U2( Guess who was better)
Neil Young
Dylan-Rolling Thunder Revue
The Band at the old Academy of Music
Dwight Yoakam- Irving Plaza.( Another place I have seen too many to mention)
I have left out many many more and I haven't counted the jazz and classical performances. Boy I love NYC.

Oh boy Rachel, I forgot all about Savoy Brown. I saw them during the Lookin In and Street Corner Talking period. Like I said above, There were some I probably don't recall as easily, but I know I saw something. (heh heh)

First: Kiss, Cobo Arena, 1976 (when they recorded the 'Alive' album)

Best: The Who, 1980-ish, in a small venue, had awesome seats

Loudest: Deep Purple (I had a toothache; that didn't help:)

Most thought about lately: Warren Zevon, in a VERY small venue, third-row seats

Favorite memory: Meeting Cowboy Junkies singer Margo Timmins after the show

Most Rowdy: Violent Femmes

Another favorite memory: Paul McCartney alone on stage with his guitar singing 'Yesterday'

Others off the top of my head:

B-52s
Bad Co.
J. Geils
Jethro Tull (became an instant favorite band)
Concrete Blonde
Elvis Costello (will always be my favorite)
The Bus Boys (we were the only caucasians in the crowd)
Neil Diamond (got dragged there)
Beach Boys (won the tickets)
Asia (also won the tickets)
Rod Stewart (in his prime)
Bruce Springsteen (in his prime)
Uriah Heep
AC/DC (rockin')
Styx (lame)
Dave Edmunds (rockin')
Robert Gordon

I'm sure I'm forgetting tons, but there ya have it.

I'm only 22 but I've seen a ton of shows in my time. The most memorable was a Bob Dylan/Black Crowes show a couple years ago. The venue somehow double booked that night, but both parties agreed to do a one night only deal. Seeing Dylan with my dad was just great.

The band I've seen the most times is DMB - 13 shows and counting (with two more next weekend). If you haven't seen them live, do so, they are outstanding.

Best festival I've been to was Bonnaroo last year - 3 days of pure jamband bliss. Also included the best set I've ever seen - moe. played from midnight to about 6 am and just killed it. Good times.

Shows I'm most looking forward to: a rumored tour of Dave Matthews, Trey Anastasio, and Tim Reynolds this winter, although seeing Simon & Garfunkel is going to be killer as well.

Matt, how was Slipknot? I hear that their live show is absolutely crazy. I really want to pick up their live DVD one of these days.

I have seen Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, and Dena Carter. I think it was quite a while ago.

I really want to see Spineshank, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, Slipknot, The Offspring, Green Day, and Stone Sour.

Tony,
Slipknot was pretty wacky. It was at the Pledge of allegiance tour a couple years back with System of a Down and a couple of weak openers (Mudvayne and Rammstein were supposed to be there, but backed out). The only time I've seen more active pits was at the Korn concert that I went to, but Slipknot was definitely nuts. After their set, a buddy and I walked around the outside of the venue and saw many, many downed people being worked on my medics. I thought I was in Bosnia for a second :)

For starters:

• The Beatles
• The Rolling Stones
• The Kinks
• The Dave Clark Five
• Bob Dylan
• Country Joe & the Fish
• Jefferson Airplane
• The Doors
• The Byrds
• Joni Mitchell
• Donovan
• Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin)
• The Grateful Dead
• Moby Grape
• Quicksilver Messenger Service
• The Animals
• Lovin' Spoonful
• James Taylor
• Peter, Paul and Mary
• The Mothers of Invention
• The Grass Roots
• Steppenwolf
• Iron Butterfly
• and others I can't think of offhand.

And all this, in the 1960s alone.

But since I've written about this sort of stuff for money, I didn't stop with the '60s or the '70s. For example, I was assigned by Music Connection magazine in 1989 to cover a little-known Seattle group playing at The Palace in Hollywood, an outfit called Alice in Chains. You name the so-called contemporary act of the early '90s, chances are I've seen it.

Gary, I saw Savoy Brown when Chris Youlden was stille the main singer.

I see alot of rock on these lists and I've seen alot of rock myself...but I've seen as much or more jazz. I ran drinks at the Village Gate in New York for a few years and I saw:

Hugh Maskella
David Sanborn Band
Professor Longhair
Heath Brothers
Rickie Lee Jones
the tribute concert for Mingus
Mose Allison
...geez I cannot even remember 10% of the folks I heard just at work at the moment!

Some of my most memorable rock concerts are smaller names like:

Seatrain
Goose Creek Symphony
Bull Angus
Wild Turkey
Dixie Dregs (the original super-extrodinay line-up!!!)
Free
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Barefoot Jerry
Red Hot Chili Peppers (1981..originals!)
Ray Davies
Todd Rundgren and the Hello People
Paris
The Producers

...I saw the Blue Oyster Cult when they only had one album and not so much material yet at the University of Tennessee Ballroom. They played BORN TO BE WILD 4 times.

I saw the Grateful Dead and Quicksilver on one bill at the Academy of Music in N.Y.C. in '71...I think???

My memory is stalled...otherwise, I could go on and on....
