It's funny that it's impossible to see some movies, normally you can get every book you want, but with movies ... and if we talk about DVD the gaps are still HUGE. Just a few examples especially close to my heart and of which there's no news in any region:

Fritz Lang's American films still mostly wait for their release. What about a nice Joan Bennett/Fritz Lang box? At least Fox could release Man Hunt. And would somebody PLEASE do a decent SCARLET STREET!!!
Jacques Tourneur's Canyon Passage is perhaps the best western ever made, Anne of the Indies the best pirate movie. Stars in my Crown and Way of a Gaucho would be nice, too.
The next Noir Box would be Robert Siodmak/Ella Raines with Phantom Lady, The Suspect and The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry.
Max Ophüls is ridiculously almost entirely ignored.
It's time for Fred Zinnemann's two masterpieces The Nun's story and The Sundowners.
I'd murder for THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME because I adore Jane Greer and I've never seen the movie.

But all told it's a very exciting time to see the essential classics released now and also some rare ones, e.g. NIGHTMARE ALLEY is also a film I always wanted to see and will be able to do now.

My 20 most-wanted titles are:

Ace In The Hole
One-Eyed Jacks
If...
The Conformist
Reds
Point Blank (Boorman)
Fedora
Prince Of The City
Reflections In A Golden Eye
Far From The Madding Crowd
O Lucky Man
Lust For Life
Julia
The Innocents
Pretty Poison
Thieves Like Us
The Go-Between
Taking Off
Lonely Are The Brave
Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here

2004 resulted in the length of this list being reduced considerably. So far, 2005 isn't looking particularly promising, but I hope the studios prove me wrong soon.

Lots of old Brit comedies like Very Important Person and the Doctor series.

And, of course, the remaining Hammer Horrors! :D

Well, I'm glad that now I can cross "Year Of The Dragon" and "Kansas City Bomber" off my list (Thanks, Warner! I owe you one...or 40 dollars, since that what they might end up costing together. ;) )

Still, there are many titles I want on DVD. Some of this is cut-and-paste from other posts, and some of it is mine. Here it goes:

-"Point Blank"
-"Brewster McCloud"
-"Night of the Comet"
-"Carny"
-"...All the Marbles"
-"Looker"
-"Cruising"
-"Kiss of the Spider Woman"
-"The Loved One"
-"Prime Cut"
-"URGH! A Music War"
-"Breaking All the Rules"
-"Eddie Murphy: Delirious"
-"Siesta"
-"Song of the South"
-"Electric Dreams"
-"Crossing Delancey"
-"Reckless"
-"Feds"
-"The Legend Of Billie Jean"

There's many others, but these are the ones I really want.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Looking forward to "Year Of The Dragon".

Hmmm...off the top of my head:

1. Branagh's Hamlet - Absolutely at the top of the list.
2. The African Queen
3. Reds

I'm sure I could think of more, but these stand out.

Wow...I thought I was a big movie fan until I saw some of these "wanted" lists - containing title after title I don't even remotely recognize. You guys are hard core! :)
