My kid has "discovered" Minecraft too. In fact, he tells me that on Mondays his gifted class plays it as a classroom project! I should probably check it out.

Fired up the original Assassin's Creed last night for the first time in a while. It's still too repetitive to play a lot all at once, but it's still relaxing now and then. I've gotta stop getting distracted by trying to collect flags.

I picked up Red Dead Redemption: Everything Edition as Best Buy's deal of the day last week ($14.99!). I might give that a shot soon.

I'm still crawling my way through Skyrim. I nerfed all my attributes to Legendary so I can continue level building and am about to start Dragonborn. I struggling in that I'm playing really slow and procrastinating lots because I don't want to finish the game on move on.

I need an intervention.

This will be your 4th playthrough of Portal and you think the cake is a lie is from that game?
I'm old! and get off my lawn!

I could see Minecraft being a project in a gifted class. What that world generator does is amazing.

Found out that a compass does not point north. I'm lost... so that is important. :p I'm on my way to somewhere special and can't wait to get there.

Made it to a "special place" in Minecraft and couldn't be more happy. Very neat! There's a small pre-built settlement here but all the residents were killed. A door on one of the buildings was made so it couldn't be used. So my guess is they were too stupid to fix that or just go into the other, rather nice, house. So they were all killed by the various night creatures. A shame. But now I can just move in there. Put a bed and chest in. Kind of an odd feeling being in that house because I remember when the villagers were still there. But now they are gone. Almost expect ghosts to appear...seriously got that feeling while making my plans. Would be kind of cool if they would add that. Haunted villages, mines, caves, etc.

So...was going to give it a rest but now I can't. :p

Lego Harry Potter 5-7My wife and I play the Lego games together. After an 18 month break because of the move, we're back. These games are very cute, generally easy, and are made for two-player coop. I highly recommend the Lego Star Wars and the Harry Potter games. I wasn't crazy about Indiana Jones, and Batman was the least interesting so far. I haven't gotten to Indy 2, Batman 2, LOTR, or Vice City.

The Lego Pirates of the Caribbean was fun to play as well. I got it as part of a 6 game Disney Pack from Amazon. I played the game while my twin boys (4 years old) watched and offered "advice" on where to go/what to do.

Terraria-after so much minecraft, this games is easier to understand than it was when I first played it. Great stuff, both of these!
Minecraft
Mass Effect
Hitman Contracts-can't get passed the first level, had to drop the difficulty down one, I hate that... I like the challenge, but I don't have the time.
Magic The Gathering 2012-brilliant card game. Getting my butt whipped

Did you mean LEGO City Undercover?
Probably :)I've seen the Pirates game on the Wii. Those movies aren't of particular interest to us, so that game didn't stand out. I'd probably try LOTR or Undercover next.

Good Old Games is a godsend.

Playing The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, and Gabriel Knight - bought all 3 for less than $15.

I was just there considering Cossacks Anthology thats onsale for $2.39. :D

Lots of BF3. Having lag problems. A bummer. Checking everything out currently to find the problem. Nothing overheating, connection is okay (got a B+ on one of those testing sites, but the lag gradually makes it unplayable so my connection should get a F). I can play for a little while... then it starts. Next, will bottom out all the graphic stuff, even though I know that's not it.

Minecraft. Magic the Gathering 2012. dishonored. Dark Souls. Hoyle casino 2008. Crysis 2.

Speaking of Skyrim, I finally finished the thing this weekend. Would of done it sooner if there wasn't all the issues with the DLC on the PS3 of course. Sad to see it end, now I don't know what to play! Such a great game. I plan to catch up on some demo and PS+ freebies before maybe jumping into Fallout 3.

Been playing a bit of the Capcom Arcade Cabinet thing. Man, kids these days don't know how hard a game can be!

That's the truth. I've been playing this as well and one of my old favorites "Gunsmoke" beat me down to remind me that twitch gameplay must be relearned. I was way better at it as a 12 year old....but then again that type of arcade game was the norm back then, so that is all I knew.

Ha ha, I've not gotten to Gunsmoke yet. "Trojan" solidly handed me my ass. Between having to use a sword to knock down enemies, a shield to block, jumping or ducking, and none of them really at the same time, it's easily one of the most unforgiving things I've played. Even with unlimited continues I bailed before finishing the first sequence.

Savage Bees is a thing of beauty though, as is Ghost and Goblins.

What are you guys using for controllers for these classic games? What basically got me out of those type of games was the switch way back when to those stupid thumbpad controllers instead of real joysticks. I know I can get a real joystick system for the PC/console but they aren't cheap. I can't imagine anyone every winning a Street Fighter tournament with a thumbpad versus a joystick.

I'm on the PS3 so I'm using the analog stick that is standard on the controller. I don;t know if a proper arcade style stick would help me or not, I never was great at these games! :D
