Just picked up the ONE copy of NE:S3 at CC - $26.99 is a great deal.

Funny thing - I always have trouble at my local CC with these things because they often are out of stock by the time I get there, or never get the lower-profile sale items at all. Not to mention they still don't group their new releases together, so you have to hunt for everything. Well, I picked up Jaws & Casino fairly easily, and then hit the TV-on-DVD stack to look for NE. Didn't look like they had it until I noticed a thin green box in the N-O area with no spine titles. Pulled it out, and voila!! When I checked out the clerk said, "Wow, you sure found Season 3 fast!".

???

Makes me wonder if they're deliberately trying to make these things hard to find. ;)

I just picked up Casino and Jaws at CC and price matched the new Northern Exposure at BB. It seems that the $26.99 was by far the best price from CC but they failed to get in their shipment at my local store. The BB customer disatisfaction clerk tried to check on CC for a price match but after an unsuccessful attempt to reach 'anybody' there they simply gave it to me. I must admit it was more painful than I thought reasonable -- though the price difference ($11) was sizable and eventually worth the agony. I also finished off my Sopranos for all five seasons at Costco ($58.99 apiece). This proved to be quite an expensive week though looking forward I don't see very much activity over the next 3 or 4 months. Looks like desirable releases are dying down quite a bit. I'm still waiting for:

The Jazz Singer (1927)
The African Queen (1951)
King Kong (1933)
Reds (1980?)
Million Dollar Baby (2004)

I don't see much beyond these few and perhaps a couple of rereleases (like The Sting) and I will wait for future HD for any more investment in DVD technology.

I got Jaws, and Northern Exposure at BB, walked in with the CC ad and price matched them both. Do you think they made a dime off me?

Nope and you'll pardon me as I fight back the tears:).

I picked up Jaws at CC last night and was surprised to see that $14.99 appears to be the regular, sticker price. There were only a few copies on the shelf, but all were OAR. Curious and curiouser.
