Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definate price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a five-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

    * BE CAREFUL! Catch Me If You Can and The Emperor's Club are available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions...get the correct one.

    * Non-OAR discs are, as usual, entirely left off the Roundup. Example: Operation Dumbo Drop, Straight Talk, Summer of the Monkeys, That Darn Cat! (1997). Thanks for nothing, Disney! [IMG]

    * A LOT of these titles are catalog titles, and I don't expect too many of them to be in-store on Tuesday. The one I want the most, Coal Miner's Daughter is something I don't expect to find for a few days to perhaps a week or so, in all honesty. I sure hope I find it quick, though...if anyone spots it please tell me!

    * Borders is real good about catalog titles. I'll give them a peek...AND I'll bring along this 10% off printable coupon, just in case I find it! [IMG] Good through 5/11; my thanks to AndreaW for the info!

    * Best Buy has a deal where if you buy Catch Me If You Can and any two of these (Gladiator, Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan) you get a free $10 gift card.

    * Target also has a premium on Catch Me If You Can. Beside what is surely the same $15.99 price everyone else has (inside info tells me that), their ad also says...oh, heck; it will be easier if I just show you:

Now that's kinda confusing on the "or larger" part, isn't it? Heck, go find the biggest darn bag of those things they got and demand to get IT for free with your CMIYC purchase! Heh. [IMG]

Thanks David, no wonder it took you so long to get up. That's a LOT of markdown.

Just CMiYC this week for me I think. I want the Jack Ryan box, but I don't have the cash right now. Maybe after a few weeks of summer job take over and I get away from this 10 hours/week of webmastering I can pick it up [IMG]

Thanks again Dave. I would get a few titles this week, but I don't get any money for a week, so I will just borrow my brother Catch Me If You Can (widescreen [IMG]) instead.

Already have The Hunt For Red October SE on order from DDD. Might go into town and get the Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger SEs since they're cheaper than I was expecting (and cheaper than DDD, though not after tax).

Never saw Catch Me If You Can, but I think it might be a good blind buy. Anyone know if Borders does pricematching? That 10% off coupon is looking mighty nice...

Nice job, Dave. I only wish someone was selling Larry Flynt: SE at a more reasonable price. [IMG]
    I was hoping for a $14-15 price.

What's with the Circuit City price on the Jack Ryan box set? They're selling the individual discs for $12.99 each, but expect us to pony up an extra $28 for a pretty cardboard box?

I seldom stop at CC when in the big city because they very seldom have the advertised titles in stock. I swear they only order 3 copies of all the new releases. By the time I get there on the weekend, there's nothing but big empty spaces on the shelves. I'd rather go to Best Buy where they stack 'em high and deep.

But given CC's total lack of support for box sets of any kind, it just gives me another reason to drive right by.

Circuit City certainly does seem to ignore the idea of promoting the box sets. An ex-employee of CC that I know suggested to me that its because they don't have the warehouse/storage room to stock up on them. Sure makes 'em look stupid, though. Oh, well.

I got a nice note from "Tim" about some of the catalog titles:

Thanks for the weekly roundup, Dave! I have my two choices pre-ordered (Hunt for Red October and Oscar) and am storing away my dollars for upcoming Tuesdays.

    Always love the WR tho!

Ordered HFRO (SCE) from BestBuy.com when I heard about the 12.99 price. Already got an email that it shipped, so I should get it sometime this week. I'll wait and get PG & CAPD from CH, when I'm sure that is the version I will get, (they'll average out to 7.16 per movie), and I don't mind waiting a while for those 2, it was HFRO that I've been pining for since I first got DVD in late 2000. Oh, already had SOAF.

Just the "Hunt For Red October" for me this week also. I'll pick-up "Clear and Present Danger & Patriot Games" at a later date. Just don't have the cash funds this week. And the MC is still smoking. Thats what happens when you spend $1250 on Reciever & speaker upgrades.

Thanks as always Dave. [IMG] [IMG]

The Universal Westerns and CMiYC for me.

The list does not include "Bend of the River", but its information should be the same as "Destry..", "Winchester...", and the others.

    Regards,
