(CC): listed after a title above = new Criterion Collection Release.

The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! The Aviatoris available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one! National Lampoon’s Lost Reality 2: More of the Worst is available in both R-rated and Un-rated editions…get the one that’s right for you.

--ALSO…note that Circuit City’s flyer this week is valid only until Wednesday, May 25th! I would guess they are going to have a mid-week ad in advance of Memorial Day weekend.

--Another HUGE week for TV-on-DVD releases! Airwolf, Andy Griffith, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Batman: Animated Series, Batman: Training for Power, Superfriends, Combat, Dick Van Dyke, Everybody Loves Raymond Series Finale, Fat Actress, Garfield, The Job, Law & Order, M*A*S*H, NewsRadio, Queen For A Day, Samurai Jack & Speed Racer. Phew!

--Target has jumped the gun by putting Seasons 1 & 2 of Moonlighting in their Sunday flyer this week. Fans of Moonlighting will have to wait another week until May 31.

--Still on the subject of TV-on-DVD…Best Buy has dropped the bottom out of its season sets of the X-Files!!! Calling it Our Lowest Advertised Price, Best Buy has priced each of Seasons 1 thru 9 of the X-files on sale at $49.99. That is $47 off their regular price of $96.99!!! If you’ve been waiting…you may want to
JUMP NOW!

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--CompUSA is advertising a price this week of $14.99 for The Aviator and Are We There Yet. That’s the lowest advertised price for Are We There Yet (tied with Circuit City).

--K-Mart has a price of $19.99 on Are We There Yet? and Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. Also, $27.99 on Dave Chappelle’s Show: Season 2.

--Target is advertising a FREE $5 Target gift card with purchase of Chappelle’s Show: Season 2 DVD set. Gift card automatically given at register. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy is advertising another deal exclusive to its Reward Zone members. Buy Seasons 1 ($21.99) AND 2 ($19.99) of Chappelle’s Show for $35. Must be purchased on same receipt. $20 + $22 = $42. $42 - $35 = $7 savings.

--Best Buy is also still offering a Best Buy exclusive DVD called Buddies with Dave Chappelle. On the cover it says, “The Show Dave Chappelle doesn’t want you to see!” Available Now. Includes over two hours of exclusive, never-before-seen Dave Chappelle footage.

--A price discrepancy between Best Buy and bestbuy.com. The Best Buy Sunday flyer has the Everybody Loves Raymond Series Finale listed at $7.99 while bb.com has it for $6.99.

--Circuit City is now running a deal IN-STORE in which if you buy The Aviator ($14.99), you will get a free copy of The Outlaw. While supplies last. Minimum 25 per store.

--AND…those new two-disc SEs of Day After Tomorrow…I, Robot…and Man on Fire all have FREE on-pack movie tickets to The Fantastic Four Up to $7.50 value. In theaters 7/8/05. Valid 7/8/05 thru 7/30/05.

The Appeal

If you’re a fan of the Weekly RoundUp…or like talking with other HT enthusiasts about your hobby and the latest new releases, PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE HOME THEATER FORUM!!!

Operating the HTF is not free for Parker and Ron. That is why there is advertising throughout the forum and there has been the occasional membership fund drive. And there is a way for you to help…FREE OF CHARGE!

If you would simply link to the Portal Page when you start your visits to the HTF, that act alone would bring revenue to the forum. While it would also be nice if you wanted to click on some of the advertisers’ links and check out their deals and sales (that form of “window shopping” would bring even more revenue to the forum), the simple act of landing on the Portal Page registers a “hit” or “impression” that creates revenue for the HTF.

So, if you’ve been “sneaking in” to the HTF through links to your favorite thread or forum, please help out by taking an extra second of your time and landing first on the HTF Portal Page. Thank you!

Awesome news about the X-Files!

Thinking I'll only be picking up the new SE of Man on Fire - surprised me just how good that movie was.

Mike and Patrick - Thanks as always for your efforts week-in and week-out in putting the Weekly RoundUp together. Your hard work is truly appreciated.

The Aviator is a definite for me this week and the kids want me to pick-up Are We There Yet?

I was ticked-off when I first heard about the 3 re-releases this week of Day After Tomorrow, I, Robot, and Man on Fire in 2 Disc Special Editions. It seems like I just picked these up. Anyway, I was all set to pass on these titles when I saw the note about the included movie tickets for The Fantastic Four. And now a coupon possiblity?
Does anyone have any additional information on the coupons?
These 2 Disc SE's may be on my list after all.

Thanks, Mike.

I'll be getting:

MASH Season 8
Andy Griffith Season 2
Pooh's Heffalump Movie (my son wants this for his upcoming birthday)

I'm assuming there's nothing new, transfer-wise on the Godfather releases, so I'll be skipping those, and I can't imagine the finale won't be on the final season dvd when it gets released, so I'll be passing on the Everybody Loves Raymond finale dvd as well.

Finally, NewsRadio!!!!! One of the best shows of the 90s is coming to DVD Tuesday. Mine already shipped last week, so hopefully I'll have it by mid-week.

Other than that, I'm probably wait for a price drop on Day After Tomorrow CE, unless Wal-Mart has it in the $15-16 range.

Big animation week for me.

Samurai Jack Vol 2
Batman TAS Vol 3
Samurai Champloo (older release but I love it on Cartoon Network)

Also for those looking to get Samurai Jack vol 1 & 2, I saw that Best Buy has Samurai Jack - The Complete Seasons 1 & 2 for $69.99 this week. Thats $10 OVER MSRP. Amazon is selling it ~$41.

Thanks again Mike for all the hard work on this week after week. I'm going with just Godfather 2 this week. I'm so glad I held off on the Godfather collection originally. Now I don't have to have a movie I don't want.

Does the "Queen For A Day" collection really only have 7 episodes that have survived? I guess the show wasn't high profile enough to try to save.
