Man, I'm broke after this week. I picked up X-FIles 4-6, Northern Exposure 1-3 and Robot Chicken. The deals were just too good to pass up.

And I may get in on that 2-disc KK action at Tower. Ouch!

MAR is Modified Aspect Ratio as opposed to OAR which is Original Aspect Ratio.

Usually MAR means pan & scan, though it can also be faux widescreen.

Thank You George. I figured that is what you guys were talking about but I have never heard it called MAR. I feel like I am always running to keep up with you all. What happened to just plain standard and widescreen? :D

*Note to Mods*
You might want to add this to the terms in the basics area. I looked there first but did not see it. OAR is listed.

I prefer Mangled Aspect Ratio. Modified makes it sound like an upgrade or improvement.

The problem is that either of those can be either OAR or MAR.

A 1.33 is OAR on most tv shows and older movies. A widescreen can be MAR on shows like Kung Fu which should be 1.33.
