Especially with Julie Christie's upcoming Oscar Nomination. USA today put FFTMC on their top list last week to be released on DVD. Come on Warners!!! Please!
If only the R2 was as good as a laserdisc port. It was misframed, and cut as well. Unfortunately, there is color fading on the laserdisc. I still watch it once in a while. Beautiful well-acted film.
A gorgeous movie made by an ace team of Schlesinger, Raphael and Roeg. Great music, too. Hardy had a reputation for being dreadfully slow and dull but this movie made Penguin and others publish his novels in paperback and TV adaptations duly followed. The movie is, I feel, very much a product of the 60s - Sergeant Troy=Sergeant Pepper - and La Christie always looks as if she's just left Biba. But these things only add to the film's irresistible allure and I cannot wait for a smashing OAR transfer. It was blown up to 70mm in Britain and looked much better in 35mm in my view. The R2 DVD is appalling, as others have said.
