It's great to see the Hildegarde Withers Mystery Collection finally get a nice boxset. I've been looking for this since the laserdisc era, when all we saw was "The Penguin Pool Murder." "Murder on a Honeymoon" has a wonderful look at Catalina Island as it existed in 1935, which isn't too different from what it looks like today, although you get to see the hotel on the other side of the Casino which burned down many decades ago.

I've never seen the latter three films, so this set sits in my wishlist awaiting an opportune moment.

I recieved my copy of Greystoke and I am happy to report that it looks pretty good. Lots of grain and a nicely done DTS HD 5.1 audio track. I'm looking forward to the reviews here.

Are there any indications that, as a box set, these could be pressed?

It appears they are DVD-r. I ordered a set and it should come in Monday. I am looking forward to these six mysteries. To bad WAC did not have the rights to the Eve Arden TV movie (pilot), the 1972 - A Very Missing Person. It belongs to Universal.

Why would they mention them now? Surely they're fall/Halloween releases?

Warner Archive normally releases their Halloween titles in the last 2 weeks of September so we will likely see those comic con horror titles released then.

Too bad. Eve Arden would have been good in the role. I can see her as it more than Zasu Pitts.

Eve Arden is always a favorite and it would have been an interesting series but who would believe the premise of a retired school teacher solving murder mysteries. Zasu does bring some interesting comic relief to the role, but I'll take Edna May Oliver any day.

It was a presentation on b-movies, I think, and they were involved in it.

If a pulp fiction writer can solve murder mysteries (Ellery Queen, Jessica Fletcher), I see know reason why a retired school teacher can't do the same. The key to success of the Hildegarde Withers series was the interaction between Hildegarde and Oscar Piper. If cast correctly (and, with Eve Arden half that battle is won) this could have been an entertaining series. Edna May Oliver was perfect for the role. I'm sorry she's only in three entries.

    It was a full-on WAC-specific panel.

They also officially announced that Batman: Brave and the Bold would start coming to Blu-ray this year from WAC one season at a time at their Hanna-Barbera panel, where they announced a DVD edition of Space Stars.

I was making a reference to the Jessica Fletcher success in that she was also a retired school teacher.
