Any word on the next Andy Hardy set? I think the last thing I heard was early part of 2013. Heading into April now and still nothing.

Are the Macdonald/Eddy titles released in March on backorder for everyone else? I ordered them a day after the release date so I'm curious if they ran out very fast or just missed the release date didn't get them in stock yet. The latter situation seems to happen a lot with their non-WBshop exclusive titles lately.

In today's Warner Archive podcast they announced their new streaming service: instant.warnerarchive.com however the site still says it is Beta by invitation only. The announcement can only mean that they are going to open it up to the public soon.

I got an e-mail inviting me to join today. Two week free trial. $9.99 per month thereafter. Its called Warner Archive Instant.

Hooo boy! Samuel Goldwyn films have officially been introduced to the WAC!. I was worried these titles were going to get overlooked after this much time--about 1 year since the deal was announced. These Eddie Cantors have been in high demand since MGM plugged them in an expensive mega-set with no option of

I'd also hazard a guess that the Samuel Goldwyn titles might go OOP in a few years hence if WB allows their Samuel Goldwyn license to expire, so those interested might not want to wait too long.

Bowery Boys Vol. 2 is right on schedule. I wonder which titles made it into this volume (outside of Meets the Monsters)...

Also, it looks like the WAC is starting to advertise pressed disc runs in their press releases, with the description "...initial quantities of this release will be traditionally replicated (pressed) in anticipation of high consumer demand!." Needless to say BB Vol 2 will be pressed.

Eddie Cantor, “the apostle of pep,” was an original king of all media, vaulting from vaudeville to Broadway, Hollywood, the radio airwaves and even TV. WHOOPEE (1930) This two-strip Technicolor musical comedy, adapted from Cantor’s smash Broadway show, delivered hit songs like “Makin’ Whoopee” and “My Baby Just Cares for Me” along with the dance number debut of a young choreographer by the name of Busby Berkeley — whose signature powers are on full display. Cantor plays a neuroses-laden hypochondriac (decades before Woodrow Allen) who becomes an accidental matchmaker when he offers a ride to a runaway bride way out West. Cantor becomes an unwilling Mercutio between the bride’s warring suitors — Sheriff Bob Wells and local tribesman Wanenis. KID MILLIONS (1934) Cantor depicts a simple Brooklyn boy who finds himself on a collision course with charlatans, connivers, sheiks, and she-devils on the way to inherit a fortune in Egypt. STONED BROS. (2009) Australia‘s answer to Harold and Kumar, Stoned Bros. is a pot-fueled road-trip that gives Cheech and Chong a run for their stash. Sick of the city life and their dead-end jobs, Charlie and his up-tight cousin Eddie decide it’s time to reconnect with their homegrown roots. Taking off in a beat-up Ford they spark it up on a spiritual journey across the Australian Outback to find and return a sacred stone, which Charlie lost in a blaze of confusion. Wow! After all that grumbling about people even asking if a release was pressed or burned, and after obtaining the deletion of the HTF Warner Archive pressed vs. burned thread, WA actually comes out and finally states in the official press release that a title is going to be pressed and not burned. Cheers for their increased communication!

I watched the exclusive MU release of Lubitsch's The Merry Widow, and can happily say that the video and audio quality is outstanding. It's amazing that it took this long to get released, but the wait was certainly worth it to see it look this good.

About a month ago someone asked about this title on their facebook page and their reply was that they haven't started work on it yet. So it sounds like they plan to release it eventually but it needs some work so it may be a little while yet.

A Caribbean Mystery (1983) First lady of the 20th Century stage Helen Hayes takes a turn as the meddling mystery-solving spinster Miss Marple in this adaptation of the beloved Agatha Christie classic. Major Palgrave, an idiosyncratic but charming mystery writer, reveals to Miss Marple that one of the guests at a luxurious Caribbean resort they’re staying at is a murderer. The Invisible Boy (1957) Forbidden Planet’s Robby the Robot time travels from the 23rd century to the 20th in order to team up with a cybernetically precocious ten-year-old in this oft’ neglected but thoroughly charming SF-Boy’s Adventure-cum-Cold War paranoia piece. When superscience whiz Dr. Tom Merrinoe (Philip Abbott) mysteriously supercharges 10 year-old Timmie’s IQ with his sentient supercomputer, the kid repairs the time-tossed robot and embarks on a series of adventures before the film takes a sudden dark turn… Our Dancing Daughters (1928) Powered by a zillion watts of sexual energy, Joan Crawford strips to her teddy and tears into a Charleston, quickly becoming the very icon of Jazz Age “Flaming Youth.” Crawford became a star in this milestone silent about a good girl who hides her heart behind a party-girl mask and loses the man she loves to a gold digger.

36 Hours (1965) James Garner stars as an American Army Intelligence officer who awakens in 1950 with acute amnesia. The last thing Pike can remember is D-Day preparations in 1940. With his beautiful wife Anna (Eva Marie Saint) by his side, he tries to recover his memories. But things are not always what they seem, as Anna may not be his wife and it might not even be 1950… The Deadly Trap (1972) Rene Clement directs this neo-Hitchcockian thriller that sees a loving wife discover the true nature of her husband’s profession after their children are abducted. With Frank Langella and Faye Dunaway. Horror Of Dracula (1958) In this scarlet and ebon tinged full color adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Christopher Lee begins his iconic run as the Prince of Darkness alongside fellow Hammer-mate Peter Cushing, fresh from their pairing in the film that helped launch the Hammer horror craze, The Curse of Frankenstein. Midnight Mary (1933) William Wellman directs Loretta Young in this gangster melodrama that unflinchingly reveals what makes a good girl go bad. The Ultimate Warrior (1975) Forget about Mad Max — this Sci Fi actioner has Yul Brynner facing down cannibal savages in post-apocalypse NYC alongside Max von Sydow.
