Is there a ratio for viewing distance? My viewing distance on my 50" plasma is roughly 14 ft and it seems when I get to around 12 ft I start noticing distortion. I'm wondering if I'm not cutting it a little too close.

Thanks!

12' away should not be too close for a 50" screen. What are you watching when you see distortion? DVD's, HDTV, SD?

A good rule of thumb is to be no closer than twice the diagonal distance of the screen. For a 50", I would recommend a viewing distance of 100" (a bit over 8').

Describe what you're seeing. I don't think you should see distortion no matter how close you get. Pixelization, yes. Loss of perceived crispness, yes. Distortion, no -- or at least not as far as I know.

It really depends on the capabilities of the display. You have to sit a lot farther away from lesser displays that don't have the resolution density.
