Well I found the surgery to be quiet painful. It wasn't the worst pain in the world just a dull pain in the bottom of my stomach. The pain you feel just after you have been kicked in the boys. This only lasted while they worked on one side but it was the longest 5 - 8 minutes of my life. When he started working on the other side I felt no pain at all.

I also had considerable swelling and was very sore. This lasted about two weeks but I was bruised for about 3. However it was all worth it in the end. I have two lovely boys but I do not want anymore.

***THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND ALL THE GUYS SEEM TO BE LEAVING THIS OUT*** The first time I was ready to get it on again with the wife it had been about 4 weeks. Things happen and I pull out for the money shot. POW! I shoot a cloud of dust out and smoke up the whole room.

Bah! Don't let 'em scare ya. I was up and mowing the lawn that same evening. I've had bowel movements that were more uncomfortable.
Best of luck.

I was snipped back in 1984. They cauterized the ends of the tubes and put metal clips on 'em. I can still feel them if it gets too cold. :)

I'm a doctor and I've seen a few cases of the andropause (male menopause) follow a vasectomy. You won't find this in the literature though.Sperm granuloma is another rare complication which can occur years later.

God or evolution intended the sperm to come out of the testicles. There's usually a price to pay when interfering in human physiology

Why not get the wife's fallopian tubes clipped?

Sperm granuloma. Andropause. ANDROPAUSE! It's not made-up stuff, Micah. Please read more before you snip. Most important talk to SEVERAL doctors before doing anything. Read professional literature and talk to professionals before snipping. Explore alternatives. If for no other reason than to act fully informed.

The problem is, the more you (I) read, the less I want to have someone poking around in my nads.

"Andropause"? Wasn't he a "Transformer"? I don't want to deal with health complications. I figured that the least I could do, to make up for the girl's having used The Pill for so long, which has all sorts of complications of its own, is do my own part and snip the problem right off. If there were a male "Pill," I'd take that. (Is there?)

Overwhelmingly, I find that this is a safe and effective surgery. But there are risks with anything, right? I tend to be affected by those risk stories, and I'd opt out of anything medical that involves risk. You know that "one in ten thousand" that has problems? I am that "one." (I mean, I just know I'll be that "one." My luck.)

So, I am still leaning toward having this procedure done, and I appreciate everyone's continuing input here, certainly. I will continue to monitor this thread, and I will start really doing some serious research. And I'll talk to my doctor, too.

Andropause? Sheesh...

I was on the couch with ice the rest of the day after the procedure, but was fine the next day. There was low grade soreness for a few days afterwards, no big deal.
I was really disappointed with the follow-up sample though. Nurse just hands you a cup and says "Bring this back in a couple of days". There was no porn room like they always show on sitcoms. I wanted to visit the porn room! :D

I had elaborate fantasies of bringing along my beautiful laboratory assistant (the ultimate benefactor of this procedure) and having her assist me in rendering the sample post-haste.
"Here you go, just bring this back in a couple of days."
"Just give us a minute or two in this room here and you can have a fresh sample, whaddaya say?"
:D

That's for sperm banks where speed is important as they want to get the little swimmers on ice while they're still healthy. If all they need to do is look under a microscope to see if there are any little swimmers, old and dead works as well as new and active. (Actually after a couple of days the swimming tails would have broken down and only the heads would remain, but that's all you need to count swimmers.)

Joe

Wouldn't it be cheaper if your wife gave you oral sex instead?

1) Perhaps, but it would be a lot less fun for her if that's all you did.
2) Not necessarily, given what jewerly costs these days. :)

Joe

If Tim the Tool Man Taylor can have one, we all can!

I wish you luck - and a save venture.
