I'll second PARTY GIRL, I did not realize that was a Columbia/Tristar title, but apparently they releasd the VHS.

Cees, I believe Orion titles now reside with MGM. I know they have Casino Royale.

I'm pretty sure HBO has the rights to Map of the Human Heart. They released the VHS-- I want that movie as well!

Walt, RH:MIT is a Columbia Pictures Film. I don't know if they sold the rights, but I doubt that.
Jodee, same as above for Casino Royale (they owned the rights long before the first Bond - Dr. No - was made, it's in fact Fleming's first Bond novel). MotHH was a Polygram movie and brought to video (VHS) in Europe by RCA/Columbia TriStar Home Video. So, I really don't know.
And thanks for filling me in about Orion.
Earlier in this thread, I noticed A Matter of Life and Death (1946), Michael Powell, etc. = Stairway to Heaven. Is that one really Columbia?? Or are you guys referring to another film?
If it is Columbia TriStar, I second it (and if it isn't, I propose this one too - but somewhere else :) ).

Walt, RH:MIT is a Columbia Pictures Film. I don't know if they sold the rights, but I doubt that.
My video copy has the Fox logo on the sides and back, and also says "Copyright 1993 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation...Released by Twentieth Century Fox."

In the credits for the film, it says "Twentieth Century Fox Presents a Brooksfilms Production..."

My RH:MIT poster also features the Fox logo. I don't remember this ever being a Columbia film. Even in theaters it had the Fox logo.

Now, Dracula: Dead and Loving It is definitely Columbia.

I've just seen somewhere on this thread 'Map of The Human Heart' which is quite possibly one of my fave films. I was actually going to start a thread... Movies that will never come to dvd, and that would be top of the list. However, I think 'Map of...' is with Fox in the US, it is with Columbia in the UK though.

Does Columbia have 'The Boost'?

Walt,
That's funny. Strictly speaking we're both wrong, it seems.
IMDb says the producing companies are Brooksfilms and Gaumont (France), and mentions as distributors, both: 20th Century Fox and Columbia TriStar.
Walt, my VHS copy has Columbia Tristar all over it, but I noticed now that it has "Columbia TriStar Film Distributions presents a Brooksfilm, etc" (not "CT Pictures") on the front of the cassette, while the VHS itself is distributed by CT Home Video.
Apparently they own the rights for Europe.
Well, let's say: if Columbia has a say in it: we want this one :).

Oh, and I added two titles to my list: Who's Minding the Mint and a TV film: The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The first of these two is a not widely known little gem. And I like that Hunchback version, I believe Columbia holds the rights (but again I'm not certain of that).

Theres not really many i can think of at the moment.

But a few that come to mind & i would love to see....

Can't Hardly Wait...uncut R rated version.

Desperado....uncut version. The ending was heavily cut(completly hacked out!) among other things to avoid a NC-17.

Best of the Best...cheesy fun!

I hope they listen & at the very least get the first 2 films mentioned released. + OAR is very important...so don't skimp on that...the least is include both the P&S & WS/OAR versions.Should'nt be that tough to figure out.

I wish more studios would take Anchor Bay's lead and put out their titles in 6.1 surround. Wake up, smell the coffee and keep up with technology.

I would definitely be interested in getting the following titles on dvd (in their proper OAR):
Beulah Land (TV)
Stairway to Heaven
Heroes of Telemark
Best of the Best (if it stars Eric Roberts)
The Apu Trilogy by Satyajit Ray (if Columbia has these. Haven't seen them yet, but sound great based on description in IMDB);)

"Armed And Dangerous"...

The movie *MUST* be in its original OAR. Extras: All I would need are the theatrical trailer and (if one was made) the music video for Atlantic Starr's theme from the movie.

Sincerely,

John "Will you take the risk/Baby, 'cause I'm armed and dangerous" Kilduff
