That's a passive (unpowered) monitor speaker, not a subwoofer. It's not designed to output low frequency sound such as is found on DVD and Blu-Ray soundtracks.
I don't know what kind of inputs the speaker has, but it will not work correctly as a subwoofer with the Yamaha receiver, if at all.

could you link me to something cheap that will be able to power it? And that speaker has a 12" woofer, stated in the specifications.

It may have a 12" woofer but it's still a two-way speaker, NOT a subwoofer. It's not intended for home theater use, and it's extremely unlikely you could make it work in a home theater setup at all. You need to look into powered subwoofers that will work with the Yamaha receiver you linked to.

My friend uses two of the exact same speakers, JUST in his room. He has some old radio receiver thing, and it works.

I'm sure those things can be made to output sound from an older receiver (although I'd check the impedance requirements of the receiver before plugging them in).
However, a home theater receiver playing back a digital 5.1 soundtrack from a DVD or Blu-Ray source is entirely different. An unpowered two-way speaker is NOT the same as a powered subwoofer. It cannot be used to correctly play back the LFE channel information (the .1) in a home theater receiver setup, with or without external amplification.
Anyway, I'll let someone else take over the arguing, I'm done here.

I was not arguing. just simply trying to get info. Sorry if it seemed like i was.
    Last question:
will that receiver work with this? http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-F12-475-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B0015A8Y5M/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

No problem, it just seemed to me that your mind was set on an unsuitable product no matter what.
Yes that subwoofer would work, however I know nothing about the quality of that brand or specific product. But a powered subwoofer is exactly what you need for that receiver.

    Welcome to the HTF.

It would be a lot easier to get recommendations on powered subwoofers if you gave us a budget. Subwoofers can range wildly in price and it would make it a lot easier for us if we knew how much you were willing to spend.
