God, I wish people would stop flocking to this dreck so that Michael Bay would stop making bottomless profits from a tired, vacuous franchise. The one good thing, though, is it renders him less likely to have the time to produce atrocious remakes of respectable horror classics.

I guess it would be nice if kids and teens (the intended audience) would begin to use a little critical thinking and realize they're being fed nothing but repetition without imagination, overblown action without heart, boring-as-a-drill-bit plots and characters completely lacking in character. They probably don't know much about the director of this series, whose incredibly inflated ego is, in my opinion, based solely upon his box office receipts and has virtually nothing to do with talent or real creativity. But, trying to apply empathy, and imagining myself as of that age range again, I guess the constant barrage of gigantic machines and cgi effects and explosions and infantile dialog would appeal to me. I sure do hope the current generation grows up to acquire serious respect for classic films, but with each passing year, I grow less optimistic. Movies on cell phones and iPods, music downloads at 128 kbps...damn!

I LIKED the first three Transformers movies, but this one was just awful. Dumb I can live with -- BORING is unforgivable! This 3-hour snoozefest had vaaaaaast stretches of time with no action at all. What were they thinking?

Let's remember when we were their age, we didn't have much critical thinking going on either when watching our favorite action films without much storyline or interesting characters that weren't stereotypes. We didn't have CGI films, but we had westerns, sci-fi and horror films that left a lot to be desire when it came to fine filmmaking.

Critical thinking is not a requirement to enjoy a big, dumb action movie, even at our age. The problem with this movie is simply that it's slow and boring.

Reminds me of my favorite Roger Ebert quote of all time: "'Pearl Harbor' is a two-hour movie squeezed into three hours, about how on Dec. 7, 1941 the Japanese staged a surprise attack on an American love triangle."
