Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I just saw a 35mm print of this about a month ago, and even with a few scratches and a tiny bit of fade at parts, it was a more pleasing experience than the Blu-ray. Hoping either in 2016 for the 50th anniversary of the series premiere or the next movie's future home release that they'll give these another go, but I'm not exactly holding my breath either.
