I still have a feeling that the revamped cover art is a hoax and the person who posted it is sitting back laughing about our rant. To me, it looks "altered" because the box angle and spine doesn't match between the two versions. And the spine numbering doesn't match. Also look at the lack of the bottom edge shadow between versions.
There are very talented people who create custom covers and this could be one of their works but very unprofessional in the way it is laid out. On one custom cover web site, there is a couple of participants who use "autographs" on their covers regularly.
Like someone said, if this is legit, why isn't the other Regions covers the same?
Maybe someone from Paramount or the DVD authoring company can confirm this before we go off the deep end complaining to Paramount about what could be a fake?
Maybe James Cameron can go even further by completely removing the ship from the DVD cover and the actual movie. Instead of the ship, everyone can be sailing on a gigantic floating version of James Cameron that breaks in half and sinks after it hits an iceburg.
I can deal with crap cover art if Paramount would do us the honour of not scratching the discs. I've had enough problems with their multi-set Star Treks to last me a lifetime...
I've just gotten word that Paramount will be cashing in on the gigantic head packaging (as seen on The Simpsons Season 6, Munsters Season 2, and Battlestar Galactica Complete series sets) and have plans to change the cover & packaging one final time. It will be a giant plastic James Cameron head. His mouth will be open and a lenticular Titanic will be floating around inside.
Think "Giant Cylon Head meets 'Super Size Me' meets James Cameron's mug" and that's what it will be like.
At least it's not an image from the Oscars when Cameron was holding the statue declaring "I"m the king of the world!" Notice how the new cover shows him pointing towards the Oscar, as if to say, Hey Leo- it's all mine!
The original cover is classy. Adding Cameron's sig - no problem. Still a classy look.
But the insert picture... Put away all the talk of ego, etc. - this is just bad, amateurish graphic design. I can't believe a major studio would want something so inelegant and UGLY associated with them - especially since it will have NO effect on sales!!
