My sympathies too, Radioman. We had to put our dog down last year but had her for nearly 16 years of four-legged affection. We do have a new addition to the family: about six months ago we adopted a then six month old female beagle from the animal shelter - a terrific find as she's quite adorable and sweet (if a bit of a brat).

Been tardy in updating my horror/sci fi stuff. I watched the Hitchcock Premier collection, but will spare you all those reviews, I give the set a 4.5/5, great stuff.

3 horror icons get nothing to do. then there's possibly the worst soundtrack for a horror movie which makes you think of swinging 60's London instead of fear. The last 15 minutes though is cool as fuck, so it gets 3 stars.

A decent sci fi action film with some neat ideas for the future. It's a bit undone by it's budget despite the actors involved. Just because we can make movies with digital green screen doesn't mean we should, it looks like shit.

Annoying mash up of Dr. Jekyll and Jack The Ripper. I don't even want to talk about it.

busy at work means I don't get much time to watch the movies like I did in October. I still have 4-5 hammer horrors to get through.

I remember renting this one after seeing a number of good reviews of it. I have no idea what those people saw because I thought it sucked. Maybe it might be worth seeing for camp value but I can't rank it among the good Hammer movies.

Reunited with the gf and promptly was dragged to The Haunting of Molly Hartley. This "meh" supernatural chiller takes forever to get where it's going and then rushes its conclusion. This one might seem cool to the younger generation but I've seen much better. The reference to The Tenant only reinforces that.

That's just it, it's not all that campy either oputside of the premise, so it's just boring. I also couldn't stand that lead actor in that Frankenstein flick, so it really had nothing for me in this one. The premise is still best done in the porno Dr. Jekyl & Ms. Hide.

I'm still without my tv which sucks big time. The part is suppose to come in next week so here's hoping. Anyway my brother just got a brand new spiffy 52" Samsung which came with a free blu-ray player. Of course he had to show it off. He bought Shoot Em Up which the boys watched and Stargate.

11/24 Stargate (1994) :star: :star: :star: 1/2

I must say this looks alot better on blu-ray than SD-dvd. Though I became hooked on the tv series, it was nice re-visiting this movie again. It's fascinating to see the whole mythology that developed out of this movie and interesting to see where it all started. Doesn't beat Star Trek though.

I like DR. JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE. If you want to see a lousy Hammer "Jekyll" film, try THE TWO FACES OF DR. JEKYLL!

Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) :star: :star: :star: 1/2

This seemed to be a repeat of the first. No new surprises here but it was still alot of fun. Charleton Heston reprises his role as Taylor but it's a small role. This time James Franciscus was the main character and he did an amazing job in the part. Back also was Linda Harrison as Nova. On the disc was a short but informative documentary that must of been produced for this current release. It's been years since I've seen this one, so it was nice seeing it again.

Joe,

Really? I've not heard of this one before. What is it like? Is it available via DirecTV? I have Chiller, which I like a lot. Chiller is still showing episodes of Night Gallery on occasion. :emoji_thumbsup:

I guess you could say it's a 24-hour station like TCM, except it's exclusively Horror and Sci-Fi. Here is a link to the scheduling:

VOOM: MONSTERS HD Schedule

I've heard that we'll also be getting CHILLER as part of our cable. I don't know if Monsters HD is available via DirecTV.

11/30 The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007) :star: :star: :star: :star:

Though the creature is abit too cutesy and the aw factor slips in, this is a good movie that the entire family can enjoy. Good acting all around with fleshed out characters. I liked this one alot.

12/02 The Fifth Element (1997) :star: :star: :star: 1/2

A bright colourful movie that is alot of fun to watch. Bruce Willis plays the reluctant hero who protects the "supreme being" from an odd assortment of baddies whose leader is played to the hilt by Gary Oldman. The only annoying character was played by Chris Tucker and over time, his character has grown on me. Extremely campy and recommended.

12/02 Independence Day (1997) :star: :star: :star: 1/2

Another guilty pleasure of mine. Though not as much fun, discounting the campy performance by "Data", it's still a great popcorn movie with faults that can only be overlooked in the summertime. It looks great on blu too so that's a bonus.

12/04 X-files: I Want To Believe (2008) :star: :star: :star: 1/2

It plays more like an episode of the series but a good episode. I have to admit to being extremely disappointed when I went to see this at the theatre. At the time I felt this Frankenstein-like story just didn't do it for me, but my position has softened over time and I've come to the conclusion that this movie isn't half bad. I guess I wanted a movie utilizing the mythology of the show since the alien angle was such a big part of the X-files. Maybe next time......

The House on the Left (1972) SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS FILM

Um... yeah not really sure what to say about this one other than all I could think of during this movie was the Apple Dumpling Gang. I'm not sure if this movie was suppose to be serious or not, but I didn't get it. Two young girls go out to score some pot only to get kidnapped by 4 stupid criminals. They are tortured and left for dead. Criminals wind up at one of the girls parents home, who then find out that their daughter was killed and then seek revenge. Nothing scary about this movie. Plenty of nudity, horrible acting and cheesy music.

The Incredible Melting Man (1977) :star::star:

This began quickly with fun right out of the gate, as an astronaut returns to earth infected with some sort of goopy substance all over his body. He escapes his hospital room and roams around freaking people out. The slimey effects by Rick Baker are top-notch, but unfortunately the repetitious movie quickly runs out of steam and could have used a little more story.
