My cable service is comcast and I have a digital box and I subscribe to HBO
and Starz.
I just got a Toshiba DVR620 VCR/DVD combo recorder and get the above message
when I try to record any pay channel. I use DVD+RW disks.
Error message: "this program is not recordable in +VR mode"
The cause is "you are trying to record the copy-once program."
Solution: "Insert the DVR-RW disc in VR mode
(ver 1.1 or 1.2 compatable with CPRM)"
What is CPRM and why can't I copy a "copy-once program, I am paying for them?

Because...
You can only record it to your cable companies DVR.
There are programs for computers to strip DRM.
Or, depending on your cable company...you might be able to record to a DVD-R that has a hard drive...or a hard/flash drive connected via USB.
A "copy once" program can only be copied to a hard drive. Unless you have a DRM stripper.
