Like a lot of the 'taped' TV things from that era, it sometimes has that 'fishbowl' vision thing going on.

There is a lot of wild speculation going on here.
No official announcement or details have yet been made by 20th Century Fox.
We do know that a lot of work has gone into the Todd-AO restoration of "Oklahoma!" but I've not heard anything of "Carousel" or "The King And I" being restored.

The only indication of a set at all has only been made by Amazon, with absolutely no content detail whatsoever.

In the words of another R&H Musical, it might be just an Amazon 'Pipe Dream' - Let's hope not.

    Doug.

I hope not - what with the recent news of the Todd-AO "Oklahoma!" restoration I think we're in for a nice surprise...

I hope not too .. and I'm optimistic about 'Carousel', given that the existing DVD isn't too bad, though not up to the exceptional standard of the DVD of 'South Pacific' and the outstanding Blu ray of same.
I've made my own 35 or 40 minute excerpt version of 'Carousel' as I don't really need every plot-turn every time i view it ... and it never fails to totally break me up. I'm not so much a cock-eyed optimist as a totally sentimental sap! Can't wait to experience its sublime torture in HD .....

Now that there's artwork up on Amazon for this, it looks like this may be a cardboard book packaging. Looks like I may be making special covers -- not that it will make me cancel the order.

Apparently South Pacific gets both its discs ported over but The Sound of Music only gets one of its two discs!

Doesn't make it clear if we'll be getting both "State Fair"'s - unless they've both been put on the one disc.

On the other hand - looks like "Sound of Music" has dropped its second disc with all the great extras. A bit weird since that disc had 2 very good documentaries on Rodgers & Hammerstein. Maybe they've been ported over to another disc.

    Happy Days!!
Now I'm excited that the Blu-ray set is, in fact, a genuine reality.

I'm concerned though, what work has been done with with "State Fair","Carousel" and "The King and I".
We have waited so long for this, let's pray and hope that Fox gets it right.

I think I'll order the complete set, even though, like others here, I've already got the "Sound of Music" and "South Pacific" Blu-rays.
It'll be nice to have them altogether in the one box.

All we need now is a date and a credit card.

    Doug.

Since this collection was announced in The UK two years ago but not released, am going to assume Fox has been working on all titles since then. All of the Blu-ray titles that Fox has released have been exceptional and I don't expect anything less with these titles. They are a gems in Fox's catalogue.

Bring 'em on! Sounds as if the old Sound of Music disc will have to be retained though if it's lost all its extras.

    NOW IT'S OFFICIAL!
Amazon has just posted the arrival date as April 29, which is not too far off at all.
I've cross-posted this info to Giovanni's original thread as well as there wlll be many other people as relieved as me that this won't be another phantom listing of the sort that got us all excited a couple of years back at amazon.co.uk.

Unless some of the "Rodgers & Hammerstein"-related documentaries have been slotted over into another of the discs...

April 29th is consistent with the fact that "Oklahoma!" is showing theatrically via TCM's 2014 Film Festival on the 10th...glad to know this is coming out so soon!!!

These are about my most desired blu-rays of all time! I especially can't wait to see The King and I. When I watched this release on my Pioneer HD playing on a DVD player that claims to have upgrade for HD I was astounded by the magnificence of the scenery. This is a movie I've seen many, many times in all formats including fresh 35MM/scope, but I was still bowled over by the pristine clarity, plus the incredible art/set designs.

Any idea of when this set will be released?

I'm not messing around with this one.

I've just placed my order using the HTF direct ordering link.

    Bring on April 29. :thumbs-up-smiley:

It's coming two days too late to be a birthday present for me. At least it's coming.
