Well... after someone on another board was complaing that the boxing sequence on #114 Sports had been altered, I went back and looked again.. and NO, it's VISUALLY PRECISELY what was shown on the original broadcast...

HOWEVER I have spotted a ALTERATION in that epidode... the BUMPER MUSIC. In #114 as broadcast, they used Smashmouth's "All Star" as background music while the Juggies are boxing... on the released discs it's a pure instrumential piece that is 'reminisicence' of "All Star".

SO, there's the one place that alterations have occured.. music clearances...

It's all in good fun.
Exactly, so why do you argue against the blurred images? I understand how some things (like Adams private parts) are probably funnier with the blur, but there were other jokes that I don't think are as effective with the blurs.

I think I speak for most when I say that it bugs me when a nude woman comes out on stage and the guys in the audience Hoot and Holler, and I am stuck with a blurred image. As Jason pointed out, I just would like to see what the audience sees so I can get the same reaction. i.e. The bit with Adam was blurred intentionally, which is probably also how the audience saw it, so in this case I don't mind the blur. I just want to have the same reactions as the audience.

Hey! Maybe instead of an "Uncensored Version" they can have an "Audience Version". :D

Hmm, so I guess my final question would be, is whether those skits were shown censored to the audience to begin with.

Has anyone ever attended a taping of the Man Show. I'm curious about this?

So when does this happen in the DVD? Um never? So what are you complaining about? No juggies get naked in these episodes. Save your complaints for later on.

There were plenty of time the Juggies were (supposedly) naked. If they weren't really naked, then I understand.

And yes, I am assuming they were.

But there are plenty of arguments made in this forum where we don't know the "real" reason, so I don't think my assumptions are any different.

Unless someone can confirm otherwise, I will have to believe they were actually nude.

Let's take Howard Stern, how many of you would buy his show on DVD if it included the fuzzies?

IMHO, this IS one show that needs to be on HBO or Showtime (HD, of course).

My brother has been to a taping so I'll have to ask him how much "real" nudity there was. I do remember him saying that inbetween commercials they played porn on the monitors and screen. So that in itself suggests to me that when a Juggie gets naked, she gets naked.

I like MarkHasting's term "Audience Version" :D

MarkHastings and others

I will say once again what I have already stated. In the entire 3 disc set here are the momements where blurring effects are used

- a tape recorded Jimmy Kimmel "Will You Sleep With Me" man on the street segment that shows a lady strip down naked (she never even interacts with Mr. Kimmel). Her face as well is blurred leading one to believe there was no legal clearance granted to show her.

- a tape recorded segment that blurs the faces of some vocal Star Wars fans waiting in line for The Phantom Menace..once again most likely no legal clearance granted to show these people as they get in an arguement with the hosts of the show

- once again a tape recorded segment that blurs out Adam's genetalia (again I contest that he was covered even under the blur) in a segment with his 'mom'

- and finally another brief 'tape recorded' segment in the bonus features of a group of naked girls jumping on a trampoline.

So since all 4 incidents were of 'tape recorded' skits...(and all combined this pixelated footage totals well under one minute of the total running time of these 3 discs)...those sitting in the audience saw and heard (with the profanity accompanying these episodes) exactly what you the home viewer will see and hear on this dvd. There are no naked juggies and there were none in the studio that were blurred out...maybe in future episodes/seasons but not in these.

Now those of you complaining you want 'to see it as the audience who was there sees it' ... you can all go sell of the dvds of movies that you weren't present on the studio sets for since you will be missing that vital interaction and footage that took place that isn't seen in the final edit of the movie.

Mat, thanks for the explanation. Reading through all of these posts, I never got what you were trying to say until your last post. It sounds like they have not censored it except for those few instances. Maybe Season 1 was more mild than last season. I just started watching this year so I have no idea what they were like in the past.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a terrible idea to keep this show on the air without Adam and Jimmy? They are being replaced with Joe Rogan(the host of "Fear Factor" who I do not find the least bit funny) and some other guy I've never even heard of. This is like keeping Seinfeld on the air with 4 new cast members.....it just makes no sense. Adam and Jimmy created The Man Show and it really sucks that Comedy Central is going to keep it on the air without them. I definitely won't be watching.

I don't know if I would say it is as bad a completly recasting "Seinfeld" That show is purely character driven. There is probably more leeway with replacing the hosts of the Man Show in that capacity because the Man Show is ultimately more about content. And I don't think it is really a stab in the back at Jimmy Kimmel to replace the hosts. After all, he was the one who left on his own accord, it's not like they fired him and replaced him. Although I agree it's probably not going to be as good, I throughly enjoy the Man Show, so I will give it a shot when it returns.

Please do not all rip me a new one

WillG,

You're right, it's not the same thing as bringing in a new cast for Seinfeld. I was just trying to make a point that sometimes it's better to let a show go away than to bring in replacements to keep it going. I hate the idea of two different guys coming in to replace Adam and Jimmy because they were so good on this show and it was their brainchild in the first place. I know it was Jimmy's choice to leave the show and while I do enjoy his late night show sometimes, I wish he would have continued on with The Man Show for a couple more years. The show just won't be the same with these new guys.

I'm with you Will, as much as I enjoyed Jimmy & Adam, I will give it a shot. After all, Juggies are Juggies regardless of who the host is. ;)
