Lollipop was released after the wave of new Android flagship phones were released. There will be an uptick once the S6 is released and carrier updates finally push out. You can stop clutching at your pearls about it.

Here's what I never expected: Traditionally we've seen platforms and developers target OS level features to base their development on. Fragmentation never slowed Android down but because of it and how the carriers are loathe to make OS level updates developers are now forced to avoid targeting specific OS releases and now focus on actual product level releases. So the Nexus and S products will be targeted but if you have anything else you can't be sure. Fascinating.
