Well Simon you destroyed my elaborate post that went to picking The Third Man and then rescinding the pick for certain considerations provided by Steve. ;) :D

This no doubt won’t win me any votes in the end, but:

Damn, Brazil was my top choice!

A Film Trilogy by Ingmar Bergman ("The Faith Trilogy")

Three brilliant movies by one of my favorite directors, plus a very insightful documentary, thoughtful liner notes, and brief but interesting commentaries.

And since we're talking Criterions, let me mention that there will be a Brakhage retrospective tomorrow night (Sunday) at 7pm at Whitsell Auditorium (1219 SW Park Ave) in Portland. I'm really looking forward to it! They'll be showing a good mix of films:

Desistfilm
Window Water Baby Moving
Dog Star Man Part 1
Mothlight
Arabic I and II
The Garden of Earthly Delights
Visions in Meditation #2: Mesa Verde

Sorry for the holdup, I don't always get on during the day on weekends.

I'm still clueless on how to post an image on the forum (not that I've tried very hard to discover the information)

Carl Th. Dreyer Box Set Three amazing films by an amazing director, plus a very good documentary.

Sullivan's Travels: For me the best comedy in the collection. Just wish the commentary track was better.

Since Brook snagged Sullivan's Travels, I'll take the second-best comedy in the collection:

My Man Godfrey

Lew is up and Martin still needs to make his second pick.

My next pick is a movie I enjoy more each time I watch it. I never thought it could look this good until I saw this splendid restoration effort.

Damn, Rashomon was my next pick. My next two picks are:

In The Mood For Love
and
Rebecca, my favorite Hitchcock in the collection.

Up Next:
Nick
