ACTION/ADVENTURE:
---------------------
6/6 - Got 'em all.
COMEDY:
-----------
4/5 - The only one I don't have is Some Like It Hot, but it is on my Want List.
DRAMA:
----------
6/7 - I'm missing The Red Shoes.
FAMILY:
-----------
5/5 - Got 'em all. Heh, and we don't have any kids!
FOREIGN:
------------
0/5 - Ouch. I really want to buy Das Boot, but I'm convinced that one day a non-flipper SE will be released.
HORROR:
-----------
2/5 - I'm not a big fan of this genre. I'm counting my 25th Anniversary SE of The Exorcist, since TVYNS does NOT belong on a list of "must-haves" before the original version. :)
I'm missing (and don't care about) The Fog: SE and Night of the Living Dead: Millennium Edition. I will probably pick up Nosferatu at some point.
MUSICALS:
-------------
4/5 - I'm missing Cabaret: SE
SCI-FI/FANTASY:
-------------------
4/5 - I have them all but one. I keep waiting for a better version of Blade Runner, otherwise I would own it right now.
TV:
-----
0/7 - I don't watch TV, don't care about TV. I do own South Park, though. :)
ESSENTIAL BOX SETS:
-----------------------
1/8 - I have only the Godfather Collection. Ouch!
I am waiting for the re-release of The Alien Legacy box set, otherwise I'd have it now.
I LOVE most of the Bond films, but I heard somewhere that they were going to re-release them all as nice SEs. Any truth to this? Seriously, I need to get going on my Bond collection if they are not going to be re-released, so if someone in the know can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!
The NEW Stanley Kubrick Collection is on my Want List. The cost is what's held me back. I keep waiting for a good sale. I need to just buy the damn thing!
I don't own Baseball: A Film By Ken Burns because I'm not into sports at all.
I don't own The Judy Garland Collection because I'm straight and under 40. ;)
I have no interest in The Ultimate Carson Collection and The Woody Allen Collection (although I dig a few of Allen's films a lot)
EXTRAS! EXTRAS! (Selected for Extra Value Content):[/b]
-----------------------------------------------------
5/7 - I'm missing Brazil and The Limey. I will definately pick up Brazil one day, don't know about The Limey
GUILTY PLEASURES:
---------------------
0/6 - I have absolutely no interest in any of the titles mentioned, except maybe Sid and Marty for a nostalgic goof.

Um, all of them except in television. :b There I don't have the MASH or the Sopranos sets; I did have Sex in the City seasons 1 and 2 but never got around to seeing them and sold them on half.com in the interests of making some space. I'm a sick, sick man. But I'm a sick, sick man with a good DVD collection. :D

SCI-FI/FANTASY:
3/5
TV:

Action/Adventure:
Got them all

Comedy:
Haven't got Monty python or the first Austin Powers
I would own them but I never got MP because of the initial subtitle confusion, and AP is not OAR in R1 if I remember correctly.

Drama:
Amadeus slipped through because of lack of cash at the time

Family:
Still haven't got E.T or Monster's inc, but I want them

Foreign:
Haven't got L'avventura, The blue angel or 8 1/2, but all are on the radar. Will probably get 8 1/2 first

Musical:
Haven't got Moulin rouge or Cabaret. I want Moulin rouge but I want the box set and there is that cash flow problem again...

Sci/fi-fantasy:
Waiting for Blade runner

TV:
I've only got Sex and the city #1 and Simpsons #2. Can't really come up with a good explanation why I haven't got Simpsons #1 yet...

Essential box sets:
I've got Alien legacy, Kubrick #2 and wave #1 and #3 of the old Bond sets. I really want Godfather and the last Bond movies though

Extras! Extras!
Haven't got Blood simple, Dogma, The limey or SW: AOTC yet, but want them all of course

Guilty pleasures:
Only got Rocky horror, but I want Twin peaks too.

I'm surprised at the "sophistication" of some of the titles on the list. In particular, it's cool to see The Red Shoes on there, a film that not enough people (non-film buffs) even know about.

I have 22/50. Plus some of their titles are on my wishlist. I was only missing 1 in both Drama and Sci-Fi. Eh.

I have 700 DVDs, so I guess my choices are pretty different than TV-Guides, particularly as it pertains to older films.
Though it does appear that my taste is quite the same as Rain's.

Any list by TV Guide usually is a joke. This one didn't disappoint me in that regards, with no Ultimate Toy Box listed.
I think I prefer the opinions of people on this forum and other DVD forums when it comes to must-own DVDs.

This is a pretty good top 50 list. It surprises me that TVGuide listed these. They are not really known for putting much more thought into anything than just Cheers/Jeers (whatever a Jeer is).
