King of Kings by all means

I have no idea how this film hadn't faded like the rest of them. I think King of Kings is the best transfer of any older movie. The color is just amazing!!

King of Kings would have been shot on Eastman 5250. There should be no major fade problems.

MGM's 16x9 remasters of Zulu and The Pink Panther are simply amazing.

Spartacus looks stunning, too, although, it's important to keep in mind that it was in much worse condition than the two others were probably in. I'm not by any means saying it looks sub-par. Other than contrast and grain being a little odd, it looks stunning. I feel the same way about the "eighth generation" flashback in Vertigo. In any other case, something in that poor condition would be unwatchable. It's a miracle that it looks as fantastic as it does now.

No, it's wide screen 2:1 but non-anamporphic. The print is poor and in dire need of a new remastered transfer but I don't know if the original elements are available or in decent condition as I assume this film has fallen into public domain.

My vote for the best looking DVD transfer would be either GYPSY or KING OF KINGS. Upconverted, both of these are as close to high definition looking as it's possible for standard definition to look.

If you saw it at the Casino in London, Shellarama played with Hallelujah Trail.Another great 70mm short was Sky Over Holland.
