Surround Sound issue through receiver (1 Viewer)

Setup:


Cisco Cable Box/Apple TV 4 are both connected to Monoprice switch via HDMI and Monoprice to TV via HDMI. Monoprice switch is connected to Sonos via toslink digital optical cable.


Issue:


With this setup, Apple TV 5.1 Surround Sound works flawlessly, but Cable Box only delivers stereo sound. How do I fix this so the Cable Box delivers 5.1 through the Monoprice switch?


It's worth noting that 5.1 works with the Cable Box if I send the tos cable directly from the Cable Box to the Sonos, so the Cable Box is capable of delivering 5.1.

I'd call the cable company and make sure the box is capable of 5.1 over HDMI if the box "can't see the switch".
