I just love this movie! It's funny, cute, and silly lighthearted fare that didn't deserve the trashing it got.
Tremors 2 and Tremors 3
Both have received a lot of negative reviews, but I love 'em both. I can't get enough of Burt and his wacky antics.

I haven't seen it for a while, but I remember liking The Ghost and the Darkness.

In other words, a "guilty pleasures" thread.
* I Spit on Your Grave
* The Car
* Falling Down
* Summer Lovers
(Though I wouldn't call the last two listed here "awful"...)

Neither would I. I really like both of those films.
I would also add Red Dawn as my entry in this thread.

I liked Red Dawn, too. And while I wouldn't call it awful either, it certainly isn't in the same league as Milius's The Wind and the Lion.

Oh Brother wasnt well received and there were a few threads on this forum that thrashed the movie.Its not thought of very highly in general
Here in the UK it was universally praised! Not one bad review in any newspaper or magazine! Come on... its the Coen Brothers. It won George Clooney a Golden Globe. Roger Deakins photography was extraordinary, and the links to classical literature are always look at with praise!
I can't understand how it could be badly received!

Yes, I can think of 1000 things wrong with it, but I truly enjoyed it. It really does get better after a second viewing. :)

I too have to admit surprise to many people picks here as I was not aware they were considered awful, so I'll just add mine that haven't been mentioned so far:
I liked all the Batman movies. You may now shoot me.
I will be checking out a lot of the movies you guys are talking about here. I hope you're right.

Here are ten I consider largely misunderstood masterpieces of some sort that I unabashedly love, all with pretty horrid critical and/or popular reputations:
After Hours (1985)
Quick Change (1990)
Joe vs. the Volcano (1990)
Pennies From Heaven (1981)
White Hunter, Black Heart (1990)
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974)
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
The Life & Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972)
They All Laughed (1981)
The Long Goodbye (1973)

Guilty pleasures? More people should come forward because there's nothing wrong with having them. They might not be great, they're certainly not "awful," and I can watch them over & over...

*SUMMER LOVERS

*RECKLESS

(Daryl will have her comeback!)

*BlUE THUNDER

*CLASS OF 1984

* Falling Down
Well I am with you on this one. Falling Down is one of my favorite movies, infact I know almost every line by heart. I love when he is in the convinient store and starts rolling back prices to the 1960's! I find myself frustrated at the same things and situations he was frustrated with during that film so I could relate with it on a more personal level.
Now for a movie that everyone I know thinks SUCKS that I love that would be:Plan 9 From Outer Space I really liked this one heehee.

Batman & Robin
I Know What You Did Last Summer, Though I did hate the sequel
Species II
Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, It was eventually released in the U.S. as 'Texas Chanisaw The Next Generation' and was edited down some. In any case I think this film was brilliant in it's own sick & twisted way, Much better than the 98% of what counts as horror these days. But everyone seems to hare this movie.
