Do you know of any review or technical info about the upcoming Episode I R2 DVD? What I would like to find out is if it will have Portuguese subtitles

Odd indeed but happens all the time. I'll not be able to buy the version available online. I'll have to buy another version specific for the Portuguese market (and other countries)when it becomes available in Portuguese shops. I really wish that it also becomes available on the 15th October.
Thanks anyway Theo

Well, I think the release date is worldwide. I guess importation just makes staggering it a stupid idea. Incidentally I don't see any problem with your English so I'm assuming you need the subs for family. Otherwise won't the standard English subs be enough for any dodgy dialogue bits, if the Portugese version's delayed?

Thanks for the compliment about my english Theo! The portuguese subtitles are mostly for watching movies with friends. Some of them are not fluent enough to understand english dialogues and enjoy the movie at the same time. I hope that the worldwide release really extends to Portugal as I haven't found any info on this yet.
BTW, I wish that more members would be as active as we are in this regional forum. Sometimes it seems difficult to discuss region 2 subjects

I'd like more threads on the regional forum too but it seems there are not enough people interested in R2 on this forum. After all it is dominated by US member.

Well I guess a lot of it is down to the fact this is specifically about non-R1 stuff. If I want to discuss something about Fight Club or The Matrix I can still talk about most of that stuff in the Software forum and I guess everyone else does that too.
I think if enough of us keep finding non-r1 stuff to post here it will be fine...

I too wish there were more members interested in R2 disks. I think it would be a good idea just to get rid of the regional forum and just post all DVD software threads in one forum.

Does anyone know if the UK R2 version of TPM will get the Easter Eggs reported for the R1 version? Quite often Europe misses out on stuff like this due to licencing issues, disc space etc.

Don't let them fool you. It is sheer laziness on behalf of the studio concerned. :|

It takes a very patient American to maintain interest in region 2 titles since they usually trail the USA releases by quite a bit and it takes some technical expertise to play one here. I use a PC based decoder board and region hacks to play the one I have and actually convert NTSC to PAL at work to service multisystem VCRs an TVs. I couldn't wait for the Casino Royale (Bond spoof) to show up here so I ordered from Blackstar. I'm waiting to see if the UK Dune miniseries has the additional features I've heard about before I buy it. Most Americans just buy what's available and don't even realise the rest of the world gets different releases. The movie studios are so paranoid that multisystem video products (called "export models" officially) are not supposed to be available at all in the US except at port-of-entry shops and military PX. Grey Market obviously exists but you lose all warranty support and the store might not be there next week if there's a problem.
You guys need to point out in software discussions as a comment that your release has this feature or that so we can take note of it.

I personally wasn't meaning to suggest the U.S. forum users should being interested in the Regional area - simply that there are a lot of non-U.S. users who should maybe post here more often.
Also, I could post that such and such a R2-6 title has some extra features in software but I'd expect the admin to move it to this forum anyhow. I hope that a U.S. user who could play PAL and cared about getting a different version would come to the Regional Area for any info.
