Amazon.com also claims that the film is presented in 1.85:1 AR, when ST:TMP was shot in 2.35:1 Anamorphic Panavision. Rumor has it that cinematographer Richard Kline was involved with the final color-correction and framing of The Director's Edition, so I very much doubt that he would have let something like this happen.

Well, this is just plain interesting.
I went over to Image Entertainment to see what date THEY had for this, compared to Amazon.
I can't find a separate listing for ONLY "TMP".
However, they have this: Star Trek: The Motion Pictures DVD Collection 1-9 (DVD)
Catalog Number: PAR156824DVD
UPC: 097361568249
...AND they have this: Star Trek: The Original Crew Movie Collection 1-6 (DVD)
Catalog Number: PAR156814DVD
UPC: 097361568140
Both are due 11/6th. I can't link you directly to those pages, thanks to javascript, but here's the main site: Link Removed
I believe the other two listings are box sets of the films. One with the original crew and another complete set. Keep in mind that there is already a Next Generation set of the films out.
I'm pretty sure Amazon just screwed up the release date. With every other site and the official announcement saying November 6, I'm sure that's the release date.
