Concerning the red tint issue, does anyone have any screenshots?
I tried to search, but found none.

Comparisons shots would be great...

Also, how's the dts es track?

The promo VHS copy in the US had no red tint.

I am not worried at all.

Disney knows what kind of bad press (and tons of returns and unsold copies) they are going to get if the tint is there.

Trust me. :)

I think the menus are probably just going for a certain look. Even so, there are purer whites and blues in some of those menu grabs than in the red-tinted asian DVDs.

Nope, that's how it looked in the cinema when I saw it

THIS is the tint they're referring to. which APPARENTLY only show's up if you don't calibrate your japanese NTSC television to its proper spec.

EDIT: Image link removed

Whoops, Jeremy beat me to it.

Just wondering if this was the same kind of red tint that was supposed to be in Any Given Sunday? Same problem?
Thanks

Actually, it still looks really bad and "off" like the R3 disks that try to filter off the red tint.

Actually, I was wrong. The image I posted was from the R3 version. So if the US one looks like the R3 version, then those images should match in color, but they don't.

There is NO RED TINT on the US version.

Have you ever heard a word or phrase so often that it starts to lose all meaning? Well "spirited away red tint" is on that list.

Thanks for all the replies...
Does anyone own the Japanese DVD?
If so, how's the dts es track - in comparison to the Dolby track?
And is the red tint really that bad. I'm not sure wether I'd prefer red tint and dts es - or no red tint and Dolby.

I will be doing an blind A/B comparison on the DD/DTS tracks for my review for the Bits.

Frankly, SA is not a heavy surround mix, and is pretty much firmly anchored in the front 3 channels.
