Sony BDP-S550 or New Receiver with Playstation 3? (1 Viewer)

I'm about to but an entire home theater and seems that for the BR player, I'm going towards a PS3. I was wondering of it does do "upscale" to the normal DVDs.

The PS3 goes connected to the TV via HDMI and then the TV to the home theater (also by HDMI)?

No, that's backwards.
Go from the PS3 to the A/V receiver with HDMI. Then go from the A/V receiver to the tv with HDMI.

The PS3 does a pretty good job of upscaling standard 480i/480p signals to 1080p.

Sanjay, I took your advise and bought a PS3. Now I just have to decide what type of new receiver I should buy to get lossless audio via HDMI. This is going to be a VERY tough decision.
